Pay: $143,600 plus shift differential if applicable
Job Summary:
Maintains shift accountability for the coordination and facilitation of the delivery of quality patient care on their unit. Encourages staff to achieve high performance standards through education and role modeling. Utilizes knowledge and expertise in participation of case management to provide comprehensive, coordinated, seamless care to patients and their significant others. Resolves conflicts on the Patient Care Unit and uses established conflict resolution techniques to steer and direct care team members towards an amicable solution. Manages Human and Material Resources effectively and efficiently. Directs staff in Performance Improvement activities that improve patient outcomes, patient satisfaction and enhances organizational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Works directly with the patient care team in identifying and solving patient issues
Relays patient information to doctors, communicates with other health team members about a patients care
Provides information about care and treatment to patients and families
Promotes an atmosphere which facilitates collaboration and promotes empowerment of staff
Maintains active presence on the unit, rounds, interacts, and intervenes to facilitate smooth workflows
Collaborates with unit Director/ Manager and provides coaching and counseling to staff
Works closely with all care team members in providing services to enhance patient satisfaction
Assesses and evaluates staff competency, collaborates with the nurse manager in conjunction with the educator and offers opportunities to enhance skills
Provides an opportunity for formal and informal education to promote ongoing staff competency
Assists with ensuring adequate labor coverage
Monitors daily unit staffing to ensure sufficient quantity and skill mix to meet patient requirements
Requirements:
NYS Registered Nurse License required
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's preferred
Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in health care management
Experience in a team-based, collective bargaining environment desirable
Basic knowledge of regulatory agency requirements
Ability to establish staffing patterns and staffing schedules required
