Christiana Care - Wilmington Hospital is looking to hire an Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) for our 5N Medical Unit. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager shares responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operational activity with the Nurse Manager. Additional responsibilities include:

• Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high-quality and cost-effective care to all patients utilizing the services of this area.

• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to directly supervise all nursing and technical personnel Assess the competency of staff.

• Oversee daily staffing and scheduling needs of the department.

• Evaluate staff performance, and Counsels staff members when performance issues are identified.

• Participate in all hiring, promotion, salary adjustment, and termination decisions.

• Function as a highly visible role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors that support the professional development of staff and the strategic goals of CCHS.

• Identify and develop strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.

• Direct, mentors, and supports all levels of staff on the floor.

• Identify potential future leaders and engage in succession planning.

• Analyze administrative and operational functions; implement appropriate changes and system-wide improvements.

• Develop, implement, and monitor performance improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Unit

5N is a medical telemetry unit with private & semi-private rooms caring for patients with diagnoses affecting all systems: Pneumonia, COPD, HF, Stroke, change in mental status, diabetes, wounds, UTI, Pancreatitis, stoke, cellulitis. It is a Team atmosphere that provides a wide variety of learning experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Current nursing licensure in the State of DE or compact state.
• BSN or a master's degree in nursing is required on the hire date.
• A master's degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management is required within five years of the hire date.
• 3-5 years of leadership experience in the specialty, Charge Nurse, Chair of UPC, and systemwide councils is preferred.
• BLS required. ANCC certification is required within 3 months of hire.
