You Will Be Responsible For:
Exceptional Patient Care: collaborates to provide continuity of patient care by insuring adequate resources are available on a shift-to-shift basis.
Excellent Analyst: Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation. Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
Continued Professional Growth: Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. Evaluates one's own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules, and regulations. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of students, peers and colleagues.
Demonstrates Clinical Competency: Adheres to established standards of practice and regulations while performing treatments and procedures.
Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program. BSN required; MSN preferred.
Licensure: Current Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Connecticut.
Certification: CPR/NRP required. EFM certification within 1 year of hire. ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
Basic computer skills required.
Effective communication, organizational and critical thinking skills.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required, MSN preferred.
Experience: 2-3 years recent experience in Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and Postpartum preferred. LDRP experience preferred. Some experience scrubbing and circulating for C sections preferred.
IV therapy and phlebotomy, intrapartum and postpartum care of mother according to AWHONN standards, newborn care according to AWHONN standard.
Demonstrates leadership and management skills including communication, problem solving, and decision-making.
Working knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, TJC and DPH).
Ability to implement policy/practice changes as directed by regulatory agencies.
Ability to act in a professional capacity and serve as a professional role model.
