What you'll do

The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care will work Full-time, Various Shifts & Weekends, and will provide management assistance on an assigned shift and is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The Assistant Nurse Manager assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs at the expert level. The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork, assures that the care provided is consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes and state and federal law, and provides leadership to department staff, serving as a resource and mentor. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with elements of planning, organizing, controlling, climate setting, leadership, and operational duties.

  • \The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings at an expert level consistent with experience and educational preparation.

  • Collects, analyzes, and records relevant patient health data accurately.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems.

  • Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.

  • Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care develops a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes.

  • Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards.

  • Enters accurate documentation of all patient care activities.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs, RNs and support personnel.

  • Effectively precepts new staff members or students.

  • Acts effectively as charge nurse or group leader.

  • Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care assists the Nurse Manager with elements of planning, organizing, controlling, climate setting, leadership, performance improvement, customer satisfaction, people development, professional growth, and unit profitability.

  • Participates in gathering data, designing, planning, and implementing programs.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care assists with resource and productivity issues according to established department procedures.

  • Participates or leads committees as directed by the Nurse Manager, as noted in portfolio review.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care plans and implements selected remedial actions for individuals and/or the unit with objectivity and expertise.

  • Responds to and acts on budgetary issues.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care assists with achieving Operating Performance Standards as described and reviewed by the Nurse Manager

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care monitors activities and performance of selected staff with objectivity and expertise, as reviewed with the Nurse Manager.

  • Completes Performance Appraisals for selected unit staff, as observed by the Nurse Manager.

  • Engages in timely communication with management team and staff using acceptable communication techniques.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care serves in own community as a fitting representative of Bassett Healthcare as described in portfolio and reviewed by Nurse Manager.

  • Communicates performance issues to management team with objectivity and expertise.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care responds to customer feedback within acceptable timeframe.

  • Demonstrates daily involvement with selected staff to monitor professional development, identify educational and developmental needs, provide coaching and mentoring where indicated.

  • After voicing opinion and working towards consensus, aligns with the Nurse Manager's decisions and provides a positive attitude with staff.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care advocates for patients to ensure the care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.

  • Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures.

  • Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses

  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.

  • Participates in 19-24 hours of education activity related to job function annually.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care develops and evaluates systems for orienting new staff and students.

  • Demonstrates clinical problem-solving ability.

  • The Assistant Nurse Manager, Acute Care designs and coordinates PI initiatives demonstrating good organizing skills and follow-through.

  • Contributes to the body of nursing knowledge through use of research and participation in professional practice committees and organizations.

  • Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.

What we need from you

Education/Qualifications:

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required
  • 4 year / Bachelor Degree from an accredited Baccalaureate Professional Nursing program, preferred

All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire.

BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in practice area, required

  • Minimum 2 years experience in charge nurse or leadership role, required

Licensure/Certificates:

  • Current NYS licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, required

  • Current BLS certification, required

  • Specialty areas may require PALS, ACLS or additional certifications

  • National Certifications based on area of practice may be required

Physical Requirements:

This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to:

USD $35,000.00

Pay Transparency

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.

Pay Range Minimum:

USD $43.93/Hr.

Pay Range Maximum:

USD $65.89/Hr.
