Responsibilities

The Assistant Nurse Manager manages quality patient care through the nursing process. Coordinates plan of care with the health care team. Assumes leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments, annual safety review, CPR and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. In addition to these major responsibilities, the Assistant Nurse Manager may be assigned other duties.

  • Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff taking into consideration the patients condition and the employees skill level.

  • Assesses monitors and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

  • Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.

  • Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN).

  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.

  • CA RN license.

  • 2-3 years experience as an ER R.N.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • CT CPR BLS

  • CPR ACLS

  • CT CPR PALS

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
