Assist operator on cold rolling mill to reduce coiled strip to specified gauge, size, finish, and shape.
Pay Rate: $16.03/hour
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Verify and identify coils to be processed.
Assist with annealing operations.
Review mill schedule to be sure coils are run in order..
Use coil car to place coils on unwind arbor.
Adjust coil on unwind arbor to center coil in mill.
Using controls, expand unwind arbor and verify it is secure.
Lower overarm onto coil to keep the coil from unwinding.
Remove banding and use controls to jog coil through the bridal rolls into the roll bite.
Notify the operator that the coil is ready.
Lower the bridal rolls.
Wipe excess oil off of the outside of coils.
Assist operator with feeding the coil into the belt wrapper.
Using the coil car and conveyor, remove steel drums from unwind and send to payoff side.
Assist mill crew to change work and backup rolls.
Identify any irregularities in product.
Remove scrap coil tails from the mill.
Separate and mark scrap by alloy and send to correct area.
Assist with other work as assigned.
Keep work areas as neat and clean as possible. Mop up excess oil.
Observe all safety rules.
Must have previous experience working in a heavy duty manufacturing environment.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
Normal vision and hearing
Ability to lift 50lbs.
The Buckhannon facility opened in 1999 to serve the electrical conductor industry and other light-gauge applications primarily 1350 and 1100 alloy products. Since then capabilities have expanded to include the manufacture of 5052 6061 and 3003 alloys for cookware products. Products are produced for mill finish electrical conductors cookware products packaging and distribution. Buckhannon is considered a niche shop employing around 70 people and processing a wide range of products in smaller quantities for many markets and customers.
