GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This is a full-time 260-day contracted position located on the Spencer Campus. Primary responsibilities are the development of student athletes, assistance with the men's soccer program, recruitment of prospective student athletes, practice, and game preparation. Student advising on the Spencer Campus.

Position: Assistant Men's Soccer Coach/Academic Advisor

Report to: Athletic Director/Head Men's Soccer Coach

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME):

Constant (67-100%)

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Men's Soccer program

  • Recruitment of student athletes.

  • Preparation of student athletes for intercollegiate competition.

  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes.

  • Follow advising protocol; work within academic calendar to assist students in enrolling in appropriate coursework.

  • Utilize software to access student grades and attendance and follow-up with students.

Frequent (34-66%)

  • Become familiar with and compliant of NJCAA rules and regulations.

  • Assist with placement of student athletes at four-year colleges.

  • Academic Advising for student athletes.

  • Travel with team to away meets, regional and national tournaments.

  • Assist with organization and oversight of off-season conditioning and skill development program.

  • Assist with Student Athlete Eligibility.

  • Attend orientations and other dates necessary for connecting with students for advising and enrolling students.

  • Understand analyzing degree audits and proposing schedules that will help students complete their degree.

Occasional (10-33%)

  • Serve on assigned and voluntary committees.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, community, campus staff and students.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to obtain proper license to transport student athletes to and from competition.

  • Possess a sincere commitment to customer service and quality.

  • Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.

SPECIAL DEMANDS:

Sedentary to light work. Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and carrying occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, grasping and repetitive motion frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, and viewing various types of close visual work constantly (67-100%). Must have valid driver's license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.

Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree required. College playing experience preferred, college and/or high school coaching preferred. USSF Coaching license OR United Soccer Coaches Association License preferred. Student advising experience at the post-secondary level preferred.

Preferred additional requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited institution or experience in an educational institution.

  • Project management training and/or experience.

Salary: $43,888
