Primary Purpose:

To assist the manager in improving student discipline management and all other areas pertaining to the efficient daily operations of The Student Services Department

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Texas certification standards required as set by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)
  • Master's degree with mid-management/principal certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and community

  • Knowledge of district policies and procedures relevant to the functions of this position

  • Written and verbal communication skills needed for regulation interpretation, information dissemination, and collaboration with district staff and external partners

  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong computer skills and an ability to interpret data

Experience:

  • Campus administrative experience required

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Program Management

  • Develop and present student code of conduct, discipline processes, provide training for campus administrators, registrars, and campus-level accountability staff.

  • Develop and support student enrollment strategies, events, and campaigns.

  • Collaborate with District Data Facilitator on student leave codes.

  • Assist with the district dropout prevention and recovery plans.

  • Provide guidance and support to campus administrators regarding student discipline.

  • Assist campus staff with discipline accountability reporting.

  • Process and oversee all aspects of student transfers.

  • Train and Conduct level 2 student discipline appeals.

  • Assist with student legal requirements such as Title IX, subpoenas, and TPIA requests.

  • Train campus administrators to conduct felony hearings for students reported to be involved in felonious acts when needed.

  • Submit monthly reports, semester reports, and end-of-year reports to the Manager of Student Services.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.

Other

  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet Alief's current and future needs.

  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range: Min-$76,570 Mid-$91,443 Max-106,314 (Based on previous experience)

235 Days

2023-2024 Salary Schedule

2024-2025 Salary Schedule is pending board approval
