JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager, SA Business Management Opportunities & Proposals is responsible to manage the day-to-day activities of the Opportunities & Proposals and RFP Team. The role requires interfacing with key contacts within Airgas, key corporate customer contacts and partner suppliers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Manage individual contributors in support of organizational financial and efficiency goals

  • Ensure teams are resourced to deliver to objectives

  • Provide support to help develop and manage all components of RFP and Prospect/Development Account process

  • Develop, maintain, and promote consistent price strategies, tools, and analytics that are aligned with Strategic Account pricing and profitability goals

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with associates and supplier network in support of business and department goals

  • Actively participate in industry events, associations, conferences and symposiums watching for market trends and emergent opportunities

  • Gather data about market conditions and determine impact to existing and potential business

  • Manage the development and training of direct reports in order to support and foster:

  • Promotion opportunities

  • Backup strategies for each position

  • Cross functional training

  • Positive attitudes that promote a healthy, constructive and team oriented work environment

  • Individual and Team Performance

  • Special projects as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of equivalent education and experience working in a related role

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Expert attention to detail with the ability to analyze and outline large amounts of data

  • Self-motivated individual that can be resourceful in the solution resolution process

  • Demonstrated capacity to escalate issues appropriately, both within & outside the chain of command

  • Demonstrated ability to interact and take direction from all levels of management

  • Ability to analyze and adjust work procedures to achieve maximum efficiency

  • Demonstrates the ability to be trusted with sensitive information

  • Proven ability to identify and communicate process improvement opportunities

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Previous Airgas experience

  • Packaged gas, welding and safety product knowledge

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
