Job Summary

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of gym operations to ensure an exceptional "Judgement Free" member experience as well as a financially successful club.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing a high performing staff consisting of Member Service Representatives, Trainers and Custodians.

  • Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for all members, prospective members and guests and ensuring staff follows superior customer service guidelines.

  • Assist with Staff Management and provide backup support to Club Manager as needed.

  • Assist in scheduling and supervising staff.

  • Member service oversight - Ensuring staff is providing a superior customer experience at all times.

  • Assist in resolving or escalating employee issues or concerns.

  • Involved in all front desk related activities including:

  • Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.

  • Check members into the system.

  • New member sign-up.

  • Take prospective members on tours.

  • Facilitate all member requests, issues and questions.

  • Assist in overseeing cleanliness and maintenance of facility.

  • Assist in ordering of supplies using specific budget based on club requirements.

  • Assist in tracking statistics and reports (weekly, monthly, and annually).

  • Backup support for any employee who is absent.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Superior customer service skills, preferably in the fitness industry.

  • Experience working as a Member Service Representative at Planet Fitness.

  • Solid supervisory, diplomacy and listening skills.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Suite).

  • Hard working, enthusiastic and energetic!

  • Strong problem resolution skills.

  • Current CPR Certification required.

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required.

  • Must be 18 year of age or older.

Physical Demands

  • Continual standing and walking during shift.

  • Continual talking in person or on the phone during shift.

  • Must be able to occassionally lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.

Incumbents are responsible for assisting with the coordination of staffing and operational activities for the Municipal Golf Course including on and off season area maintenance. Receives general supervision from the Golf Course Superintendent or higher level supervisor staff. This position is driving essential (see driving requirements below). Typical Class Essential Duties 1. Assists Superintendent in leading staff to include: prioritizing and assigning day-to-day tasks; monitoring daily operations; assisting with staff training; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. In absence of Golf Course Superintendent: authorizes time off, approves payroll and makes hiring decisions. 2. Assists in planning, scheduling, and supervising the construction and maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and associated support facilities. 3. Coordinates the repair and maintenance of all mechanical and motorized equipment used on the golf course; troubleshoots minor mechanical issues and makes necessary repairs. 4. Maintains inventory of parts, supplies, and equipment. 5. Instructs equipment operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of mowing and other equipment. 6. Assists in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems. 7. Assists with the safe application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and other pesticides used on the golf course. 8. Operates park maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, power tools, mowers, edgers, and blowers. 9. Assists with budget preparation and administration; prepares costs estimates and justifications for budget items; and monitors expenses to align with the golf course budget. 10. May be assigned to assist other divisions within the Parks and Recreation Department before and after the golf season. 11. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. 12. Follows all City safety procedures. Reports all accidents/incidents immediately to supervisor. 13. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Knowledge (position requirements at entry): Knowledge of: * Current trends and innovations in golf course turf operations. * Applicable Federal, State, Local and City government codes, rules and regulations relating to the various aspects of golf course turf management. * Supervisory principles. * Tools and the operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in the construction and maintenance of golf course areas, equipment, and facilities. * Proper use of fertilizers and soil conditioners; pest control methods and materials. * Drainage methods; watering practices and irrigation systems. * Construction and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers. * Planting and culture of the turf grasses used on golf courses; planting, cultivating, and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees. * General landscape tools and equipment. * Methods and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of golf course areas, equipment, and facilities. * Budgeting principles. Abilities (position requirements at entry): Ability to: * Work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays. * Interpret and explain City policies and procedures. * Coordinate, organize, and review the work of personnel. * Perform skilled golf course maintenance, reconstruction, and repair work. * Provide leadership and direction. * Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner in routine situations. * Work independently in the absence of supervision. * Use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, and power tools and equipment required for the work in a safe and efficient manner. * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. * Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. * Follow written and verbal instructions. * Prepare clear and concise reports. * Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals. Training, Experience & Certifications Training and Experience * Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in golf course operations. * Associate's Degree in turf management, landscaping or a related field. Licensing and Certification Requirements Licensing Requirements: * Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming Driver's License. * Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Pesticide Applicators License, within six (6) months of hire.
