In this role, you'll partner with Linda Fargo, SVP, Fashion Office and Store Presentation, in the growth and daily business management of the Concept Shops. The successful candidate will be innovative, product centric, a fashion enthusiast, energetic, a self starter and possess cross channel confidence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attend market appointment in NY and communicate selected items to buyers

  • Closely follow all fashion shows and flag Linda on recommended looks to buy for shops and possible magazine looks

  • Identify new resources

  • Ensure related trackers are updated by buyers. Review quantities and allocation: Omni/Online/Store

  • Communicate trackers to on-line team post-markets and update well in advance of new season

  • Ensure on-line assortment well represents the shops

  • Review sell-throughs and reports daily for analysis purposes and for identifying opportunities

  • Trend reporting

  • Trend flashes

  • Ensure Omni has the final trend reports post-market and communicate most important items

  • Assist in fashion selections and sample requests for VIP NYFW windows

  • Monitor Omni content for curation

  • Identify and add non-tracker product to support shortcomings in the on-line shop assortment

  • Work in tandem with Social Media division on content and selection rationale

  • In partnership with Marketing division, determine an appropriate email schedule seasonally. Propose themes and content to present to Linda

  • Propose and actualize ideas to promote the shops with events/happenings/activations.

  • Conduct seasonal clinics with sellers in the shops, reviewing incoming products and any other news

  • Walk shops regularly (3x/week) to review merchandising, deliveries, standards

  • Walk the store at least once a week to find new discoveries and stay abreast of the store and fashion

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Project management skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a variety of internal and external teams

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Comprehensive computer skills

The Director of Social Media and Special Projects is a senior member of the Corporate Communications team and serves as a key strategist, working closely with the Vice President and Executive Vice President. He/she is the lead for company-wide digital initiatives, driving innovation and leadership by working collaboratively with all parts of the business (Children's Book Publishing & Distribution, Education, and International) to create and execute social media campaigns. The role manages a Social Media Coordinator and also serves as producer of the Scholastic Reads podcast and editorial director for the Scholastic corporate blog, On Our Minds (oomscholastic.com). RESPONSIBILITIES Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Lead the team that manages Scholastic's vast social media presence across multiple platforms, including generating social media content for various projects and programs, executing content for major campaigns, book and product launches, media moments, thought leadership, and more; tracking social media analytics; and leading the social media consulting team for the rest of the company * Train and liaise with managers of social media accounts to share content, ensure consistent voice and tone, and ensure legally compliant use of the platforms * Developing a social media strategy to engage and excite Scholastic fans building anticipation for Scholastic's 100th year anniversary in 2020 * Oversee social media campaign reporting and data analysis to improve understanding of our social media successes, failures, and opportunities for growth * Serve as the social media lead within Corporate Communications' crisis communications monitoring and management efforts * Lead implementation of social media listening across the company, serving as in-house expert, vendor relationship manager, and ensuring onboarding and training of Scholastic employees * Steer rollout of employee engagement tools across the company, ensuring that employees are trained and well-equipped to become brand ambassadors for Scholastic; this includes managing the company employee advocacy social media tool * Produce the Scholastic Reads podcast, including directing episode content calendar, leading brainstorms with the Trade and Education publicity and marketing teams to generate episode topic ideas, selecting and securing guests (authors, editors and experts), writing scripts, and providing lead editing direction * Create and execute online marketing and social media strategy for Scholastic Reads and collaborate with PR team to identify press opportunities and refine media lists * Serve as editorial director and publisher for the corporate blog, On Our Minds * Lead development and communication of social media best practices to strengthen Scholastic's social efforts * Implement and lead cross-divisional trainings to ensure knowledge-sharing and development of Scholastic's social media managers' skills * Oversee audience development efforts and fan acquisition through outreach to influencers, paid social, and corporate partnerships; identify potential sponsorship opportunities, content partners, and advertisers * Manage all relationships with third-party social media vendors * Approve, proof, and edit social media assets * Serve as the company's expert on social media and podcast trends, new technology, emerging platforms, brand voice, and best practices * Work on projects as directed by the VP, Internal Communications & Social Media HOW YOU CAN FIT Requirements: * Minimum 8-10 years managing social media and digital strategy for a brand or organization * Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills * Proficiency in design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator) as well as Microsoft programs, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
