Requirements:
Experience: Must be an EPL Shift Leader or have 2-4 years of supervisory experience, preferably within a restaurant environment. Familiarity with Point-Of-Sale systems is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (second language a plus)
Competencies: Basic math and computer skills, and strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Driving/Vehicle : Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle that may be used for company business.
Food Handler Card: Must have a Serve Safe Certificate at time of hire or obtain a Serve Safe Certificate and pass the EPL Food Safety Audit (FSA) class upon hire, where applicable.

Assistant Manager Job Summary:
Supervising assigned shifts, and provides supervision to crew members in the absence of the General Manager

Position Purpose: In the absence of the General Manager, manages operations including all aspects of the business. Creates "Best in Class" experience for both guests and crew by ensuring the restaurant is operated according to all EL Pollo Loco policies, procedures and standards. Assists GM in the coaching, training and supervision of El Pollo Loco crew members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides supervision to Crew members in the absence of the General Manager. Opens and/or closes restaurant according to El Pollo Loco policy and procedure including restaurant set-up, food preparation and restaurant cleaning. Coaches, directs and establishes priorities for Crew members during their shift. May cover a work station for part of a shift and/or fill-in for crew members during their break periods. Adjusts the number of employees on duty based on anticipated sales volume to maintain productivity, guest service standards and ensures labor hour standards are achieved. Monitors and adjusts food production according to the needs of the business and adheres to food cost standards. Monitors guest service and speed of service to ensure that company goals are being met. Ensures that all crew members are complying with the uniform and grooming policies and procedures. Follows all restaurant security procedures to ensure the safety of the Crew members and guests.
Performs administrative tasks including assignment of and opening of registers for cashiers, performs cash audits pre and post shift ensuring all drawers balance, closes cash management and secures funds at the end of the day according to EPL cash handling procedure. Answers telephone and responds to emails sent to the restaurant. Takes, verifies and delivers catering orders. Handles guest complaints and requests. Assists General Manager with workforce scheduling and selection and hiring of new employees including conducting first interviews. Under direction of General Manager assists with new employee orientation. Conducts restaurant walk-thru at the beginning and end of the shift, including multiple times throughout the shift, promptly addressing any safety or cleanliness issues.
Trains Crew members in SPECS and new products and procedures. Conducts periodic checks of the food temperatures and ensures all Crew members comply with all health department and food safety standards. Ensures Crew members comply with safety practices and follow Quality Service Cleanliness (QSC) standards. Follows proper reporting procedures for work related accidents. Ensures that all Crew members are complying with time keeping regulations. Ensures open team communications and all Crew members are treated with respect and dignity, immediately reporting any claims of inappropriate behavior to the Area and Human Resource Leader. Issues disciplinary notices to employees and coordinates performance improvement plans with General Manager and Human Resources.
In collaboration with the General Manager, takes weekly inventory and enters information into Micros. Reviews inventory on-hand and places food order with approved vendor. Receives and verifies food delivery before placing into inventory.
Interacts professionally and ethically, constructively participating as a collaborative team member or leader in pursuit of common goals.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.
