Assistant Maintenance Manager

Job Description:

We currently have an opening for an Assistant Manager, Maintenance at our corrugated plant in Olive Branch, MS. This facility manufactures packaging products for local and national customers. This position is responsible for the compilation of reports & statistics related to key performance measures for the maintenance department, the planning process for maintenance projects and leading various initiatives related to maintenance under the direction of the facility Maintenance Manager.

This position will support a broad range of activities including but not limited to:

  • Manages the maintenance budget for the facility including running and reviewing SAP reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of YTD expenditures

  • Utilizes systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures, including mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability indices, maintenance breakdowns, etc.

  • Manages the work order system and tracks work orders through completion. Compiles a report related to work order efficiency for the leadership team at the facility.

  • Responsible for planning of maintenance projects including scheduling of personnel (employees and contractors), maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, working with production team to schedule time and ensuring work orders are in the system, updated and completed throughout the project.

  • Works in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and local leadership team to schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.

  • Responsible for the inventory/parts management of the facility's storeroom, including maintenance of inventory in the system (SAP), ensuring proper inventory levels are maintained, and storeroom organization routine.

  • Fills in for maintenance manager as needed to manage the entire facility maintenance department and may be assigned direct supervisory responsibility for a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians.

Qualifications:

Solid Computer / System skill set is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Prior experience utilizing SAP, KIWI and/or ePAD is highly preferred

Prior supervisory/leadership experience and/or demonstrated situational leadership skills is required.

Prior mechanical, electrical and/or maintenance troubleshooting experience is required. Corrugated experience is highly preferred.

Prior experience with predictive/preventative maintenance programs, inventory and capital project planning is highly preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

The ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively is required.

Purpose is to supervise and coordinate the activities of the production employees to meet/exceed location operating goals, efficiencies in the areas of OEE, Spoilage, Safety, Continuous Improvements, Cost Reduction and Quality. Must be willing to work 2nd shift when joining the Ardagh Group, 24/7 operation. Responsible for a total of approximately 25 hourly associates per shift. Responsible for results for all aspects of the crew operation including but not limited to the items listed in the purpose of the job. Enforce safety and sanitation regulations. Supervise and coordinate the activities of associates engaged in the production and processing of canend production. Read and analyze charts, work orders, maintenance and production schedules in order to meet customer requirements. Confer with other supervisors/mgrs. to coordinate operations and activities throughout the operation. Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet daily goals. Inspect materials, product and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Determine best problem solving solution. Ensure safe operation of all equipment and train associates as necessary. Ensure all associates adhere to production and processing standards. Confer with management for guidance in resolving employee complaints and or grievances. Ensure all Company procedures and policies applicable to your operation are enforced. Ensure all production quality and maintenance systems are in working order.
