JOB TITLE:

Assistant Lecturer in Performance and Theatre History - 1-year fixed term

JOB PURPOSE:

Support students and the Theatre and Dance department at the University of Wyoming in the Performance and Theatre History areas of education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a one year, assistant lecturer position in performance and theatre history starting Fall Semester, 2024. Individuals will be responsible for teaching six to seven courses, primarily in the areas of Theatre History/Dramatic Literature. Additional course contributions could include Introduction to Theatre, TV and Film, Directing I, and Introduction to Performance Studies. Other duties might include providing dramaturgical support for productions and student mentoring in dramaturgical research. Depending on candidate expertise, there may also be opportunities to contribute to the 2024 2025 production season as selected by our season selection committee, and candidates who are interested in these opportunities should be available, willing, and able to work evenings and weekends based on the production schedule.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An MFA in Theatre, Dramaturgy, Directing, or related area, or a Ph.D. in Theatre, Performance Studies, Literature, Criticism or related area at the time of appointment.

  • Experience teaching theatre history, dramatic literature, text analysis, or directing.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college and/or university level.

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to the delivery of our undergraduate program.

  • Demonstrated experience in professional theatres.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.

  • Demonstrated experience or ability to mentor student performers.
