The Assistant Lead Support Professional in Community Living assists the Lead Support Professional in supporting the CVA

and CHS missions by providing supervision of the day-to-day activities of Individuals with intellectual and developmental

disabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Lead Support Professional, you will:

  • Aid Individuals by providing physical and emotional support; and maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable living environment through general housekeeping duties (which may include making beds, cooking meal, laundry, care of equipment, etc.)

  • Empower Individuals by seeking opportunities where Individuals may demonstrate independence; aiding and assisting with skill development in areas of self-help, self-determination, and self-advocacy; and observing, encouraging, and recording Individuals' progress toward established goals

  • Ensure regulatory compliance by managing the health and regulatory documentation for the team and the Individual(s) served; ensuring required documentation is completed to standard and in a timely fashion within established guidelines; actively facilitating and participating in trainings and meetings; communicating and collaborating with Professional Managers for the health and welfare of the program and the Individual(s) served; participating in a tiered on-call system which includes working outside of regularly scheduled hours to ensure adequate coverage; demonstrating professionalism, reliability, good attendance, and accountability

  • Integrate Individuals into Community by encouraging and facilitating community connections; assisting in building meaningful relationships with others in their community; and encouraging participation in activities and programs which provide opportunities to spend time constructively and enjoyably

  • Lead a team of Direct Support Professionals by supervising and training team members; scheduling and supporting team members; administering performance evaluations, and directing performance improvement; reviewing timesheets, and managing time-off requests of team members per policies and procedures, communicating and collaborating with Professional Managers for managing program vacancies; communicating professionally with courtesy and kindness with team members; being a role model for the team, and setting the standard of excellence for their team

  • Strengthen positive work culture by participating in effective, courteous, and professional communication; showing kindness and patience to Individuals and co-workers; demonstrating respect and responsibility in daily work; and practicing advocacy and encouragement in all aspects of employment

  • Support the Health of Individuals by communicating with healthcare providers and pharmacies, professional therapy services, and other external agencies for the benefit of the assisting them with personal care and hygiene activities; assisting them with administering medications; and assisting with therapies or other medically related needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Some supervisory or management experience, preferred

  • One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, preferred

REQUIRED MISCELLANEOUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license

  • Reliable, licensed, and insured vehicle

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete mandatory (paid) trainings to include CPR/First Aid and Level 1 Med-Aide

  • Must have reliable form of communication

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability and strength to position/lift/transfer greater than 50 lbs. (an adult human being) regularly, including the ability to safely assist an adult human being to the ground to perform CPR

  • Continuous ability to push and pull 100-125 lbs. of pressure consistently over extended periods as per requirements of performing CPR, as defined by the American Heart Association

  • Continuous ability to kneel on hard or other surfaces for extended periods, as per requirements of performing CPR

  • Lift, carry, squat, bend, move, push, or pull, sit, or stand repetitively and for long intermittent periods

  • Type on a keyboard for extended periods, and view a computer or other electronic screen for intermittent periods

  • Walk and/or stand for extended periods

  • Hours and rate of pay are subject to change relative to program and business needs.

SHIFTS: Full-Time (40 hrs. per week) Full-Time employees are expected to be scheduled for at least one weekend shift per week. Weekend shifts are considered Friday 11pm through Monday 7am. This position has on-call responsibilities.
