L'Arche Assistant Job Description Looking for a meaningful work and connection to a wider community that values inclusivity, personal growth and caring? Join L'Arche Tahoma Hope as an Assistant (direct support professional) and build inclusive friendships while offering support and personal care to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). Participate in a team that works, creates home, and plays together, with regular opportunities to reflect on daily life and the joys and challenges of relationships across diversity.

Assistant full-time schedules are typically 40 hours per week across four or five days, plus one or two paid asleep overnight shifts (in a private bedroom). One weekend day and one split shift are required each week. Eligible for paid time off and generous health benefits starting at 20 hours/week, including vision and dental reimbursements. All training time and costs are paid.

Private bedrooms, furniture, linens and utilities are provided. Job Requirements While the primary goal of Assistants is to develop mutual relationships with residents with I/DD, build community, and experience personal and professional growth, there are a number of responsibilities that accompany the role. Assistants are trained as qualified direct support professionals to provide support for residents with I/DD in activities of daily living, financial management, medical care, licensing documentation, and transportation.

Assistants also help to maintain the homes by preparing meals, tending the outdoor spaces, cleaning common spaces, and doing other household tasks. Assistants participate in the life of the community by participating in and helping with community meals, worship and celebrations. Qualifications Be at least 18 years old.

Have an interest in building intentional community. Show capacity for creativity, flexibility, attention to detail, and teamwork. Desire to work and develop mutual relationships with people with disabilities. (Note:

Ability to lift 50 lbs (lift and transfer training provided) Ability to pass a background check Authorized to work in the United States Valid driver's license Work arrangements include: Full time positions (with either Saturday or Sunday off) Part time positions especially for weekends and evenings Predictable schedules that include specific evening shifts Some meals included Wages and Benefits Base wage range is $18 $22 per hour Wages increase with competency and experience within 6-12 months Subsidized medical premiums start at 20 hr/wk schedules Limited vision and dental coverage after 6 months Sick and vacation pay for all positions Employee Assistance Plan benefit
