Assistant Lab Manager - Cytology

Job Summary: Support the Director in administrative duties of the lab across all shifts. The Assistant Laboratory Manager will provide leadership by collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure daily laboratory operations comply with regulatory standards. They will participate in quality improvement activities and share accountability for achieving departmental goals, fostering team member engagement, and driving continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Director in managing daily lab operations.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to improve patient care outcomes.
• Participate in organizational and lab-based quality improvement initiatives.
• Support human resource functions including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
• Manage budgets and allocate resources efficiently.
• Maintain records related to staff competency, quality audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Train laboratory students and staff on laboratory procedures.
• Serve as a professional role model and resource for employees.
• Ensure compliance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) and other regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a CLIA-compliant field.
• Experience: 3 years of leadership experience in a complex health environment.
• License/Certification: CT or HTL, ASCP or equivalent. May require a valid Virginia Driver’s License.

Position Compensation Range: $74,000.00 - $119,000.00 Annual
