SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Inclusion supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Assistant Director of Inclusion will create positive, nurturing relationships with children and families with disabilities, while building cooperative relationships within the staff team through training and development. The Assistant Director of Inclusion is responsible for assessing the need for, and implementation of adaptive activities, developing inclusion or behavior plans, and promoting success in YMCA (primarily childcare) programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide specialized support to individuals utilizing inclusive support services while promoting and supporting the potential of all youth in programs and facilitating peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall YMCA experience.

  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Coordinators to plan and implement program activities that are inclusive, culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.

  • Directly oversee team of Inclusion Companion Staff.

  • Develop and train staff on inclusive practices and behavior management techniques.

  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Communicate on a regular basis with Directors in regards to participant concerns, conflicts, successes, etc. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

  • Preform daily on-site program observations and implementation of intervention strategies alongside front-line staff members.

  • Directly oversee team of Inclusion Companion Staff.

  • Assist in the development and improvement of association-wide Inclusion policies and procedures as an active member of the Inclusion Committee.

  • Facilitate partnerships with outside organizations and community partners.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, minimum High School Diploma or GED required

  • Must be CPI Certified (provided during Staff Training)

  • Completion of CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, and New Employee Orientation.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of inclusive practices in a recreational setting

  • Previous experience working with individuals and families with disabilities

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

SCHEDULE

Part Time Hourly; 20-25 hours per week

COMPENSATION

$12.00-$14.00/hour

This program may be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
