Assistant I, Summer Conference Attendant

Hiring Rate: $16

Description of Position

Description of Position Compensation: $16 an hour and a single occupancy room for the duration of the position.

The Summer Conference Attendant (CA) is a 9-week summer position that is responsible for assisting the Office of Residence Life with the preparation, delivery, and conclusion of summer conference accommodations. This position provides support to the summer conferences directly in the residence halls and around campus as needed. This position is approximately 20 hours a week.

  • Attend 1 week of training prior to the start of the Summer Conference Season

  • Attend 1 week of "breakdown" after the conclusion of the Summer Conference Season

  • Provide customer service to the camp attendees, including but not limited to welcoming them to campus, assisting with attendee check-in/check-out of the residence halls, room lockouts, and responding to questions and needs.

  • Participate in "on-call" CA phone coverage schedule and camp response rotation with other staff members during days, evenings, and weekends.

  • Responsible for the set up and breakdown of residence hall rooms utilized by attendees including replacing linens in between conferences, taking inventory of supplies used; inspecting rooms for damages and reporting as necessary

  • Responsible for receiving linen deliveries, organizing linens for room distribution, and assisting with linen pickups.

  • Responsible for assisting the Residence Life Coordinator with other needs/projects regarding the Yavapai College Residence Halls.

  • Understands and adheres to all YC and Residence Life Housing policies

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements

  • Yavapai College Graduate or current Yavapai College Student

  • Strong availability to meet departmental needs

  • Capable of working in a 2-story residence hall and assisting in coordinating emergency evacuations

  • Physical ability as outlined in Essential Functions

  • Experience working in a fast paced, high-volume environment

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • Up to one year of work experience in related field

  • Completed at least one semester of coursework at YC

  • Be a current student in good academic and behavioral standing at YC with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

  • Professional experience in a community college/higher education work environment
