Assistant Histology Technician Location : Location US-MO-Maryland Heights ID 2024-4639 Category Research and Science Type Full Time - Permanent Overview We are currently seeking an Assistant Histology Technician at our St. Louis location.

Responsibilities Responsibilities and Duties Corporate Follow SOPs and other applicable laboratory or company procedures Maintain confidential information consistent with Inotiv corporate policy Demonstrate Inotiv Core Values General Interact with clients, other employees, and the community in a professional manner Support and participate in company initiatives Perform other duties as assigned Specific Assist in organizing of data packages, enter data into study tracking and SMS Pull slides and organize materials for peer reviews Document all study and laboratory activities as required for compliance Perform preventative maintenance, monitoring, and calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned, troubleshooting issues as needed Operate and maintain slide stainer and coverslipper Operate and maintain tissue processors Pre-label tissue cassettes and slides Assist in preparing forms / equipment logs Prepare blocks, slides and tissues for onsite archive Receive incoming histology materials and purchased products as needed Unpack and examine histology samples/materials received, verify against packing slips, complete inventories/logs as necessary and place in established locations Maintain Histology chemical/reagent/test article receipt logs Label Histology supplies and maintain inventories Package Necropsy materials and label boxes as required Maintain stock reagents, chemicals and materials Assist in managing hazardous waste and central accumulation area Perform general housekeeping related tasks as assigned Follow all company safety requirements Qualifications Position Requirements Education and experience High School Diploma or GED, lab experience preferred Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Required experience must also reflect the Skills and Responsibilities outlined below Skills and abilities Attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills Ability to multitask and work with the minimal supervision General Microsoft office skills and the ability to learn new laboratory software Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, pathologists and other Inotiv staff members Have strong work ethic and positive attitude while working towards or under a given deadline Ability and desire to learn new methods or workflows Performance requirements General Demonstrate an understanding of SOPs and Good Laboratory Practice regulations (21 CFR, Part 58) as these relate to study-specific services provided, this job description and general facility operations Demonstrate proficiency in the use of relevant computer systems, specifically MS Excel, Word, and Outlook Document all GLP, GCP, and process training, provide a CV and ensure that his/her training file is kept current Physical Activity Moderate physical activity This position will require frequent walking, sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, carrying, heavy lifting (max. 50 lbs), reaching while standing, gripping and twisting hand movements, finger control and other general repetitive motions (for more than four [4] hours per day) Able to wear latex or nitrile gloves, dust mask or respirator, and safety glasses as required. Ability to read and understand applicable materials Manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment and calculator/computer Working Conditions Work is normally performed in a typical interior office work or laboratory environment Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include use of protective equipment The noise level is usually moderate This position will frequently be involved with sharps, solvents, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material (which may include HPB positive specimens), immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.
