Assistant Girl's Golf Coach

Stipend opportunities - $1,514 to be paid at the end of the season 2023-2024

  • Acts under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

  • Assumes functions and duties of the head coach in their absence.

  • Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for effective performance in the activity, as individuals & team members.

  • Plans and directs a regular program of practice in season.

  • Maintains competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques for the sport/activity.

  • Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly when disciplining participants.

  • Coordinates freshman participants at interscholastic competitions and in practice.

  • Supervises student-athletes when traveling.

  • Oversees the safety conditions for students and facility, and the areas in which the sport is conducted during all times students are present.

  • Demonstrates cooperative conduct.

  • Shares in responsibility for equipment, distribution, collection, and inventory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledgeable in the techniques and strategies for the sport/activity.

  • Background/experience in coaching high school golf, or equivalent preferred.

  • Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to follow both oral and written directions & instructions from the head coach and/or athletic director.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and the community.

  • Ability to handle stressful situations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.

  • Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.

  • Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the athletic director.

Sterling is located in Logan County in the Northeastern corner of Colorado on Interstate 76 alongside the Platte River. Having the largest population, approximately 14,699 (2020), in Logan County and much of the surrounding area, Sterling offers shopping, restaurants, numerous parks, a recreation center, access to medical care, and is located near North Sterling Reservoir. Sterling is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Denver International Airport and 2 hours from Denver and the front range (I-25 corridor).
