The Assistant General Manager will be tasked with executing the vision of ownership in an articulate, poised, personable and immaculate fashion. They are a true professional who will bring a detail-oriented approach to the hospitality experience at Panther National and curate unique and creative experiences, service practices, menus, wines, and cocktails that meet the highest standards. They are meticulous when it comes to pre-shift preparation, planning of events, daily execution of the hospitality functions as well as with controls, processes and procedures. They are steadfast and committed to high levels of presentation and cleanliness. They will do anything for a member or coworker, and they take pride in delivering a world-class experience.

The ideal Assistant General Manager should have 5 plus years of progressive club management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar country club or luxury environment. The candidate must have a proven record of successful financial and operational management skills, with strong leadership skills. The Clubhouse Manager will directly supervise the Restaurant Manager, Building Maintenance, Culinary Staff and Housekeeping.

Job Title: Clubhouse Manager

Compensation: $180,000 - $225,000 DOE

General Purpose:

Directs and oversees all aspects of hospitality and member experience at the club. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for overseeing all food and beverage operations, building maintenance and lifestyle amenities at the club. Responsibilities may expand to include other spaces like fitness, pool and lifestyle amenities as the club is finalized. This position will report to the GM (once hired) and interface with owners and senior corporate leadership on a regular basis. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant General Manager :

  • Assist with development, administration and achievement of long term/strategic and annual business plans, operating reports and general policies and procedures.

  • Organizes the compilation of all necessary data required to prepare timely and accurate annual budgets for direct report departments, as well as coordinates the preparation of the Club's annual business plan for those areas.

  • Monitors monthly and quarterly financial reports/statements, revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) business reports and forecasts for direct report departments. Monitors business volume forecast in each department and advises changes to plans or programs, in areas of manpower, productivity, COS, operating costs and other elements. Recommends effective corrective action, as needed.

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the Food and Beverage Department, including Front of House, Back of House, and Events (internal, external, and resident).

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems within direct report departments.

  • Oversees inventories to assess control reliability. Identifies opportunities to control product costs and other expenses. Works with Controller to ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures and that club is benefiting from Troon vendor relationships and national accounts.

  • Charged with developing and maintaining a basic management philosophy to guide personnel toward optimal operating results, employee morale and member satisfaction.

  • Oversees the care and maintenance of the club's lifestyle physical assets and facilities (excluding golf facilities). Oversees the Building Maintenance/Engineering department and relationship with other senior managers.

  • Oversees and approves the creation of variety of events and menus to entice member appeal for all outlets and events.

  • Responsible for the successful execution of all member, prospect and VIP events generated by real estate, golf and membership departments.

  • Oversees coordination of Club events within F&B and event departments.

  • Ensures the highest standards are achieved through adhering to proper operating procedures in all related areas of supervision.

  • Maintains close contact with members on a daily basis to ensure member satisfaction expectations are exceeded. Oversees the resolution of member, guest and employee feedback and challenges in a timely manner.

  • Ensures direct report departments operate in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws. Maintains relationships with police, fire, liquor control board and other governmental agencies as well as ensuring cleanliness and sanitation levels to Health Department required standards at all times.

  • Oversees all training programs to include but not limited to member service and food and beverage service training, train the trainer programs, safety and other training programs.

  • Monitors basic personnel policy, reviews policies relating to personnel actions and training along with professional development programs. Updates and oversees implementation of policies and procedures for direct report departments, including compliance with all company standards. Recommends improvements as necessary.

  • Monitors the Club's overall safe-work practices and coordinates ongoing safety education programs and ensures compliance in all departments. Emphasizes prevention through training, inspection and preventive enforcement.

  • Assists in monitoring projects and correlation to business volume and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.

  • Activates proper procedures when handling emergencies such as fires, accidents and breaches of security or house rules promptly and in person.

  • Maintains membership with the Club Managers Association of America and other professional associations. Attends conferences, workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the field.

  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications for the Assistant General Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Food Safety and Applicable Sanitation Training

  • Alcohol Awareness Training

  • Level 1 Sommelier or higher, preferred

  • CMAA membership, preferred

  • Must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages.

  • Working knowledge of wine, spirits, and regional cuisines.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.

  • Knowledge of "JONAS" hospitality POS system application, hardware and software.

  • Knowledge of basic mechanical systems including electricity, plumbing and HVAC.

  • Experience in luxury or high end country club operations, including food & beverage and the golf industry.

  • Ability to maintain effective financial accountability to the company and to ownership.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the physical infrastructure, food and beverage controls, and financial back office systems of a hospitality/food service environment.

  • Working knowledge of club trends, food and beverage service equipment and hospitality trends.

  • Exceptional personal hygiene and positive representation of the organization to Troon employees, clients and vendors.
