Job Summary:

With a high degree of autonomy, provides advice on a variety of restrictive covenant and employment practices issues. Supports the business goals and objectives by developing, delivering and maintaining a business-focused employee practices strategy designed to maximize business results and maintain a productive work environment. Working as part of a team, develops strong partnerships with management to lead the team's efforts in advising and counseling those managers to resolve employment practices issues in a timely manner while simultaneously supporting business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advising on the Protocol for Broker Recruiting and risks associated with the movement of Financial Advisors within the Financial Services industry.

  • Assists in leading the employment practices team's efforts in conducting thorough and timely investigations regarding relevant employee initiated claims both internal and external.

  • In conjunction with appropriate HR resources, coaches and counsels managers and associates on employment practices issues including: pre-employment analysis, resolution of issues that arise during the employment relationship and issues that surround the end of the employment relationship.

  • Works to support the team's interpretation of metrics and uses that guidance to advise local management on trends and solutions.

  • Assures understanding and implementation of relevant company policy and procedures addressing issues such as disciplinary actions, business ethics, performance management, EAP, and reasonable accommodation requisitions.

  • Conducts formal investigations involving all levels of interaction and providing appropriate recommendations.

  • May performs human resource management activities, including identifying performance problems and approving recommendations for remedial action; evaluating performance; interviewing and selecting staff.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Conflict resolution methods, including facilitation and mediation of agreements.

  • Financial Services experience preferred.

Skill in:

  • Strong consultative, listening and communication skills; ability to convey recommendations and opinions persuasively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with effective detail orientation and multi-tasking abilities.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Ability to:

  • Think strategically and help implement and develop strong employment practices.

  • Conduct on-site investigations of sensitive issues.

  • Deliver on-site presentations.

  • Build trust and strong partnerships with the HR Business Partners, managers and associates.

  • Maintain objectivity and focus during complex and demanding investigations.

  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity throughout investigation process.

Educational/Previous Experience

Requirements:
  • 7-10 years of experience handling HR issues with a particular focus on employment relations. Degree in HR and/or an Employment Law background preferred.

Raymond James seeks a talented team-player for its Assistant General Counsel role, in which the successful candidate will manage regulatory and enforcement matters (including SEC, FINRA, and state regulatory inquiries), lead internal investigations, and partner with other members of the team in advising the Firm regarding regulatory affairs. The individual will oversee outside counsel on certain matters and may lead major projects with significant business impact involving cross-functional teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Represents Raymond James before government agencies, regulators, and SROs in connection with investigations, inquiries and exams. * Conducts internal reviews and investigations which may require travel. * Provides advice, counsel and recommendations regarding regulatory matters. * Partners with business and control functions including legal, compliance, supervision, risk, and audit to manage the Firm's responses to regulatory matters and consider actions to enhance policies, procedures, and controls. * Coaches and mentors others; oversees work of support team in connection with assignments. * Balances competing resource and priority demands. * Prepares and delivers written and oral presentations to senior management on legal issues. * Maintains proficiency in securities regulatory law. * Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
