Position SummaryThis position will be the Office of General Counsel's primary liaison with University Procurement, responsible for providing guidance and counsel to Procurement, as well as other divisions and schools engaged in procurement transactions, assisting with the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts for this high volume area, developing forms and templates, analyzing risk, and advising on policies related to the Procurement function. [University Procurement handles a wide array of RFPs and contracts, including supplier, service, consulting and SAAS agreements.] This position will also provide assistance to the Office of General Counsel's real estate team, including drafting and negotiating leases and license agreements, construction-related agreements and loan agreements, and otherwise providing support to University units that engage in real estate and other transactions. Qualifications Required Education:Juris Doctorate (J.D.) New York State Bar membership Required Experience:5+ years related professional legal experience.

Must include experience in one or more of the following substantive areas: commercial real estate transactions, construction-related agreements, procurement contracts, contracts and agreements ranging from standard contracts to complex high-dollar-value transactions Preferred Experience:5+ years Experience within an academic institution, large organization or government agency preferred Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong academic and professional credentials. Excellent drafting and negotiating skills. Good business judgment and creative problem-solving skills.

YOU WILL: * Negotiate and draft contracts, provide legal review and advice for the clinical, corporate and IT divisions of Supply Chain * Work closely with Supply Chain leadership in the review and development of all policies and procedures, and training materials, in relation to Supply Chain operations. * Proactively advise on substantive areas of law in support of the Supply Chain division, and be familiar with the impact of anti-kickback regulation in contracting matters. * Participate with senior lawyers and management to understand MSKCC business strategies and needs to maximize value. * As a member of the MSKCC legal team, keep abreast of industry best practices for academic medical center contracting. YOU ARE: * Skilled at preparing and negotiating contracts * Capable of building strong customer relationships at every level and providing exemplary customer service * Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals * Detail focussed, organized and efficient * Able to operate independently and effectively * Consistently achieving positive results, even under tough circumstances * Adept at learning quickly, applying insights from past efforts to new situations * Thriving when working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in depth evaluation of variable factors.
