Primary responsibilities include greeting guests in a timely and professional manner; escorting guests to tables, managing the wait list; delivering and serving orders; bussing and setting counters and tables; checking regularly for guests needs; answering any questions or concerns; and breaking down the dining room including espresso bar, service counters and cabinets, displays, tables, and storage areas.

Additional responsibilities include assisting the Food Service Associate with various duties such as, mixing and preparing a variety of coffee and specialty hot/cold beverages and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Thoroughly knowledgeable on the menu, including liquor, wine and beer selections, coffee and specialty coffee selections, malts/shakes, and other beverages.

  • Updates wait list and menu software, professionally answers all incoming phone calls utilizing appropriate standardized phone etiquette and dialogue.

  • Completes set up and break down duties to departmental standard for each meal period, including but not limited to dining room, display cases, espresso bar, and equipment. Ensures equipment is in working order, areas are set to specifications, food and beverage items are displayed professionally, and all timelines are met.

  • Provides positive guest recognition and relations through personal performance and attention to guest history, including familiarizing himself/herself with regular patrons and VIP guests.

  • Greets guests in a timely and professional manner, escorts guests to tables when necessary, and delivers/serves food and beverages according to standards and established service sequence.

  • Monitors the flow of the restaurant including table turnover, guest arrival, guest departure and pace of the restaurant and updates the wait list accordingly.

  • Responds to guest questions and provides suggestions regarding food and beverages with an aggressive approach to upselling.

  • Assists in preparing coffee, espresso, smoothies, shakes/malts, and other beverages to order and fills dispensers as needed.

  • Assists in mixing ingredients to prepare non-alcoholic drinks, cocktails, and other drinks to standard, and serving wine, liquor and bottled beer to standard pour and to departmental specifications.

  • Arranges bottles and bakeries to make attractive displays.

  • Cleans and polishes glassware, flatware, and equipment to required specifications.

  • Stocks and maintains supplies (including but not limited to wine and beer), refrigerators, dispensers, and/or display cases throughout the shift ensuring no interruption in guest service. Notifies management when inventory supplies are low.

  • Buses/wipes down tables and counters and ensures dining areas remain clean and in good order. Washes and sanitizes all smallwares, counters and other equipment.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and national regulations pertaining to food quality, cleanliness and sanitation standards, alcohol service, personnel, and safety.

  • Assists guests with basic transactions such as placing their order, to go order, and gift card transactions.

  • Requests proper identification from guests purchasing alcoholic beverages when legal age is questionable (under the age of 30). Consults with management on questionable identification.

  • Monitors guest alcohol consumption and does not serve alcohol to intoxicated guests.

  • Collects payment for all food and beverages when required. Accurately counts money and makes accurate drop. Totals bills and accepts payment through credit card or cash transactions. Totals receipts accurately, verifies sales and delivers receipts/cash to proper location at end of shift.

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of dining areas, storage shelving, office storage shelves, service counters, and related storage areas. Ensures the cleanliness and organization of designated work areas and restrooms, including maintaining and stocking, paper goods, menus, and restroom supplies to ensure adequate quantities are available for business demands.

  • Assists with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful and encouraging instruction.

  • Segregates and removes trash and recycling, and places in designated containers. Takes out trash and recycling.

  • Sweeps and mops floors.

  • Complies with the organizations sustainability standards (when applicable).

  • Complies with the organizations policies and job standards.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 - 2 years related experience in a high-volume, high energy, food and beverage environment.

  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Alcohol service certification.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk, squat, and reach. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
