Job Summary

Assist the Electrician in ensuring the safe and efficient operations of all electrical tools and equipment including electrical lights, electrical components of motors, engines, generators, tools, etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own safety as well as that of the crew

  • Assist Electrician in maintaining and repairing all electrical equipment and systems which include: Generators and Generator control systems, Transforming systems, Drilling system, Electrical motors, Jacking systems, Pumps, Air conditioning and refrigeration systems, Crane electrical systems, Inter communication equipment, Power generators, Lighting fixtures, Alarms, Fuses and Switches

  • Adhere to Ensco planned preventive maintenance plan to minimize down time and maximize safety

  • Adhere to MODU mobilization procedures and related maintenance as directed by operations manual

  • Follows correct lock-out, tag-out procedures

  • Eliminates all electrical hazards as they are identified

  • Establishes effective barriers when unable to remove hazards

  • Ensure all electrical tools and equipment are kept in safe working order

  • Maintain proper level of electrical parts, spares and equipment inventories

  • Assist the Mechanic and Welder on special projects when required

  • Ensure activities are conducted in compliance with Ensco Safe System of Work.(SSOW)

  • Maintains appropriate logs and records in accordance with company, regulatory and certification agencies requirements

  • Follow the provisions of the National Electrical Code, USCG, HSE, Fire Prevention Codes and other regulations that may apply

  • Assist Electrician in corporate and regulatory inspections

  • Will be required to work over open water and at heights

  • Responsible for housekeeping in his/her work and living area

  • Attend and participate in all pre-tour, post tour and weekly safety meetings

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience

  • Three (3) years working as an Electrician or Assistant Electrician with prior offshore experience preferred

  • Oil and gas experience preferred

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Must meet all the training and certification requirements which will vary by unit location according to local requirements and regulations. Specific unit requirements will be found in local job specification procedures and guidelines

Minimum Requirements for this position

  • Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter

  • Must be able to work an offshore rotation schedule

  • Must be capable of working in a confined marine environment and comfortable working at heights

  • Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other potential emergencies

  • Maintain flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines.

  • Able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance

  • Available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as determined necessary to meet business needs

  • PC proficiency required - competency with Microsoft Office Software suite version 2007 or greater
