WSP, a world-class multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Designer for our New York, NY office. We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. Responsibilities include

  • Service utility coordination

  • Power distribution

  • Lighting

  • Fire alarm

  • Low voltage infrastructure

  • Emergency power systems

  • UPS design

  • Construction Administration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Intern experience designing electrical systems for the built environment

  • Knowledge of building and energy codes

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit

  • Quality driven

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to drive projects forward

  • Ability to perform well under time constraint

  • Interest in innovative design, specifically in renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings

VIEW JOBS 11/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-14T00:00 We are looking for an experienced Lead Project Engineer, with a strong background in the design and commissioning of complex electrical systems to work on a casual basis, supporting a major design/construction project in New York. In this role, you will work on a high profile project, and support the electrical systems design for this key project, which includes control systems and other components used on movable bridges. As a lead project engineer, you will be coordinating the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project, as well as providing design input into the program. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable. Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of assigned technical personnel, and makes reassignments as project needs arise. Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project, as well as the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the company. Assists the Project Manager in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project or study. Participates in determining the technical skills and staff hours required for successful completion of the project. Ensures client criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines. Expedites distribution of action items following discussions/meetings with the client and Project Manager. Understands the client's business goals in order to enhance the project work. Prepares technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management. Acts as Project Manager's deputy for certain activities, such as attending meetings in his/her absence, etc. Obtains, analyzes, and circulates technical and contractual information to project disciplines. Reviews and approves change orders. Notifies project management and other affected personnel of all changes. Participates regularly in decision-making meetings with the client and project management. Qualifications: * 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) * 20+ years of related work experience with design and commissioning of complex electrical systems, inclusive of control systems, with specific demonstrated experience in movable bridges. * Professional Engineer registration required * Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/lead capacity * Experience with NYCDOT or NYSDOT requirements is required * Excellent written and oral communications skills * Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required * Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project Ready for action?
