WSP, a world-class multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Designer for our Boston, MA office. We work closely with architects and owners from around the world on large, complex projects with a focus on sustainability and energy performance of the built environment.

Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. Be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities include

  • Service utility coordination

  • Power distribution

  • Lighting

  • Fire alarm

  • Low voltage infrastructure

  • Emergency power systems

  • UPS design

  • Construction Administration

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Intern experience designing electrical systems for the built environment

  • Knowledge of building and energy codes

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit

  • Quality driven

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to drive projects forward

  • Ability to perform well under time constraint

  • Interest in innovative design, specifically in renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings

Our Engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the full project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. Responsibilities: * Management of in-house electrical staff, sub-consultants, and client relationships. * Accurately performs and/or checks electrical design calculations for electrical loads, short circuit and device coordination studies, voltage drop, and etc. using standard electrical engineering software in accordance with applicable codes. * Perform electrical systems design using switchgears, switchboards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, generators, transformers, distribution panels, and other electrical distribution systems. * Provide design for lighting, fire alarm, tele/data, security, and grounding systems. * Prepares, reviews, and/or interprets drawings, specifications and vendor submittals. * Responds to client questions and comments. * Performs field investigations and evaluations of existing electrical components/systems relative to condition/upgrade capacity and drawing compliance. Required Skills: * Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required. * MA PE license is a required. * Candidates must to have 5-15 years of professional electrical engineering experience designing private, public and/or municipal design projects. Proficient with AutoCAD 2012 and above for electrical required * Proficient with Revit 2011 and above for electrical preferred. * Experience with private and public agencies is a plus. * An understanding of lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, emergency power generation, energy conservation and the NEC is required * Ability to work well with supervisors, architects, other electrical, mechanical, and civil/structural engineers, designers. * Coordinating with the client, utilities, fire marshal or code enforcement officers. * Knowledge of applicable codes, standards such as NEC, NESC, IBC, ASHRAE, IEEE, NFPA, ANSI, IES.
