Student Transitions & Success (ST&S) is the department responsible for supporting unique populations of students, such as transfer students, veterans, and sophomores, to assist with their personal and academic success at LMU. ST&S also oversees all prevention and awareness education for students, including LMU CARES and ORNT 1000/2000 courses.

The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the coordination of Student Transitions & Success programming, as well as providing support and resources for transfer students and sophomore students. The purpose of this position is to provide support and resources to enhance the student experience at LMU. This position is 100% in-person with no options for remote work.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee logistical aspects of Student Transitions & Success programming and student support, such as programming for specific populations (ex: transfer students or sophomore students) as well as thematic programming (ex: Wellness Wednesday or Sexual Assault Awareness Month).

  • Collaborate with Student Affairs Research & Assessment to establish learning outcomes and measurements for student success for identified populations.

  • Serve as an ORNT 1000/2000 instructor.

  • Design and produce informational and marketing materials for students, faculty, and staff for Student Transitions & Success including the LMU website, social media platforms, brochures and annual reports.

  • Create and implement social media plan for marketing, awareness and education.

  • Manage programming budget.

  • Manage current grant funding, including detailed records of expenditures and end of year reporting.

  • Collaborate with University Advancement to identify eligible grants and external funding opportunities for Student Success populations.

  • Serve as a Case Manager for students of concern through the Community of Care.

  • Serve on Student Affairs and University-wide Committees commensurate with interest and time availability.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years student development and programming experience in a university environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of student development, program coordination and leadership development.

  • Experience with graphic design and social media marketing.

  • Exemplary interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to competently assist staff and students in a fast-paced environment.

  • Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.

  • Experience with project management.

  • Ability to plan, organize and execute day-to-day operations; work under deadlines and maintain a detail-oriented approach to each task; ability to prioritize and delegate the flow of work on a daily basis; ability to prepare reports and other documents efficiently.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other Database systems.

Required Education

  • Typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. A Master's degree is preferred in student development, higher education or related field. The Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of federal regulation/policy changes

Staff Regular

Salary range

$66,560.00 - $75,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
