POSITION GOAL

Enhance mental health services to students and families by performing duties that will assist the Executive Director in administering support to schools' district wide.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties.

  • Assist the Executive Director, Student Services Initiatives, in developing an overall cross departmental process, method, and procedure for analyzing, documenting, and managing data to deliver evidence-based mental health and wellness services and support to students.

  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities for the sharing of best practices and improvement of student mental health services.

  • Assist with the resolution of complex issues involving staff, conflicts in policies and regulations, community concerns, and parental requests by identifying the relevant matter in dispute and recommending and implementing a plan of action.

  • Assist the Executive Director, Student Services Initiatives, in developing program budgets and monitoring expenditures.

  • Communicate with public and private organizations to share informational resources that support mental health service opportunities.

  • Develop a plan for the monitoring of outcomes of programs and initiatives to gauge the effectiveness of implementation of support services to schools.

  • Develop and implement strategies for effective and efficient implementation of customer service to schools and departments.

  • Assist in the implementation of Student Services Initiatives cross-departmental programs/projects.

  • Work with external organizations/agencies in projects affecting Student Services Initiatives.

  • Assist in the formulation of staff assignments for supporting schools.

  • Participate in inter-agency planning.

  • Conduct ongoing needs assessment of mental health programs, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analyses, and other studies to glean needed areas of improvement.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Create and maintain a Student Services Initiatives resource guide to be placed in each school/district departments and used to help schools with daily implementation of wrap-around services for students, staff, and families.

  • Meet with stakeholders to gain insight into problems of practice and opportunities for improvement.

  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.

  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.

  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.

  • Research and have familiarity with School District databases and performance evaluation models.

  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.

  • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned master's degree in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of five (5) years, within the last ten (10) years of experience as a family counselor, school counselor, school psychologist, therapist, social worker, or other full-time counselor in the mental/behavioral health field and/or educational related field.

  • Valid Florida Professional Educator's Certification.

  • Effective time-management skills, including demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines.

  • Strong leadership and project organizational skills, (planning, implementing, evaluation).

  • Effective verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups, (teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff).

  • Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Prior work experience in education administration, educational planning, evidence-based mental health assistance, or student intervention. •
  • Bilingual skills.

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Works with District administration and staff, school-based personnel, parents, students, and community stakeholders to lead development, implementation, and support high quality mental health services to improve K-12 student achievement for college and career readiness in Broward County Public Schools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
