ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: Student Success at the University of South Florida (USF) is a preeminent organization that inspires learning and transforms the lives of students for lifelong success.

The Student Center is an approximately 30,000 square foot facility, which serves as the living room of student life at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus. The Student Center is a shared facility with a 200-bed residence hall.
The $44 million dollar student center and residence hall houses three ballrooms, an e-gaming room, convenience store, and lounge/study spaces. The following organizations are also housed in the Center: Student Government and its agencies, the Office of Student Engagement, New Student Connections, Orientation, USF World, and the Dean of Students Office. The Center also supports retail operations, such as the USF Bookstore and USF Dining.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director, Student Center & Events provides oversight and guidance for day-to-day operations of the Student Center and residence hall information desk and provide event management and support.
This position will oversee the operations of the info desk, manage staff schedules to ensure effective coverage, and provide leadership and guidance for operational procedures, building and visitor safety, and customer service. This role will coordinate Student Center signature programs and support student organization usage of the building.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eventing and weekend hours may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & Staff Management
Provide oversight and direction to direct reports and employees in the operating unit in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, supervise Administrative Specialists and OPS student staff, coordinate staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage based on building usage and event scheduling, serve as part of team planning and executing student employee training to prepare employees for responsibilities such as emergency and safety protocol, operational logistics, and customer service expectations.
Operations Management
Establish and implement short-term and long-term goals, objectives, and operating procedures, develop and revise procedures pertaining to the provision of services, conduct ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of services provided and customer satisfaction and recommend changes, monitor facility to ensure full functionality, report issues or repairs as needed, oversee student organization storage within the Student Center, assist in managing inventory in coordination with vendors, suppliers, student organizations, and department event sponsors, support technology and equipment in the Student Center, work collaboratively with other campus departments including Facilities & Planning Management, Technology Services , and Housing & Residential Education.
Event Programming & Management
Support operations and logistics for event and meeting services throughout the building in both reservable spaces and unplanned activity spaces, helping to support in planning and executing campus events, coordinate and implement event logistics, scheduling, and venue arrangements, which includes working with campus partners, vendors, catering, registration, speakers, food, technology, etc., ensure efficient operations and a high level of customer service, lead the coordination of Student Center signature programs, including program development, collaboration with other departments, and marketing and outreach efforts.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED: Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration, Public Administration, Leadership, Business, or related field.
Higher education experience. Strong leadership abilities, excellent customer service skills, ability to multi-task, understanding of financial operations and budget management.
