The Assistant Director, Strategic Athletic Communications is responsible for serving as the liaison between the Athletics Department and the Northeast 10 (NE 10) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), oversees media relations, and communications for all Setters sports. This position will be instrumental in helping develop and implement an annual marketing and communications strategy for each team and the department in order to enhance the brand and tell the stories of Pace Athletics.

This position will oversee the Marketing and Creative Media Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive digital marketing and creative services plan that will increase awareness, drive attendance and revenue, and promote the brand of Pace Athletics and Pace University, with special emphasis on creative video and live stream broadcasting.

Additionally, this position will oversee the Athletic Communications Assistant with the primary objectives including producing content to promote student-athletes and coaches, coordinating game day operations including directing game crew, compiling game statistics in conjunction with live stats and livestreaming, and budget management.

Position Duties

  • Serve as the primary media contact for all sports teams (currently 14 NCAA, E-Sports & 2 spirit squad).

  • Oversee and perform/assign game-day operations related to media, press box, scorer's table, game statistics, game programs, and pre/postgame press conferences.

  • Oversee maintenance of the athletics website (paceuathletics.com), including but not limited to posting/updating schedules, rosters, student-athlete and staff bios, and maintaining updated record books.

  • Produce regular press releases (season and event previews, recaps, and other news).

  • Nominate student-athletes and coaches for NE 10/NCAA/Coaches Associations awards.

  • Manage requests from outside media sources for interviews, statements, and credential distribution.

  • Work collaboratively with the University's Public Relations department when required on athletic-related news stories and events.

  • Assists with content production and event operations of special departmental programs such as the senior awards, golf outing(s) and hall of fame.

  • Managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of media equipment.

  • Adherence to institutional, NE 10 and NCAA rules and regulations supporting the vision of the Pace Athletics Department.

  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Supervision

Supervise two full-time staff as well as student workers/interns, part-time staff and independent game day contractors within annual operating budget. Undergraduate and Graduate interns, part-time as well as student staff, and designated game day contractors.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred.

  • At least two years experience in media relations/sport information with supervisor experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience preferred with media relations and game day operations for football, Sidearm Sports website content management, video production such Production Truck/Blue Frame, various stat inputting platforms including stat crew, Prestosports and NCAA Live stats.

Work Hours

FT hours vary based on student-athlete support needs and event schedules; weekends, evenings, and some holiday periods required.

Must be flexible with regular working schedule. Intercollegiate competitions can occur daily, including weekends, holidays and at different times of the day and evening. Some days may have multiple competitions on/off campus and at different times of the day or evening. Conference travel is mostly to Northeast 10 Conference members (NY, CT, MA, VT, NH). Other non-conference travel required to NJ, PA, RI, ME, VA, FL, CA, OH, IL, IA, NC, SC, WV, DE, MD, GA, FL just to name a few. Must have driver's license and must be CPR/AED certified or have the ability to obtain certification. Working knowledge and use of computer hardware and software specifically required for NCAA Division 2 sports and for posting stories on various social media sites.
