ABOUT THE POSITION
The Assistant Director Real Property Management assists in planning, organizing and administering a variety of property and construction services, including architecture and engineering for new and renovated County facilities; construction management; facility maintenance and repair; and leasing, acquisition and development of real property in support of County operations. Provides expert professional assistance to the Director of Real Property Management in areas of expertise.

Applicants may be invited to the selection process based on specific criteria in their resume that may include prior management experience with large scale contruction project management, contracts and construction project estimating in a public sector setting, mechanical engineering experience, and experience in a public agency similar to Clark County.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration or a field related to the work AND six (6) years of full-time administrative and/or professional level experience in a design/construction, property management and/or administrative services setting providing similar internal support services, three (3) years of which were in a management capacity.
Possession of an advanced degree desirable. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assists in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department; directs the preparation and administration of the department's budget. Assists in planning, organizing, administering, reviewing and evaluating the activities of professional, technical, maintenance and office support staff through subordinate managers and supervisors.
Contributes to the overall quality of the department's service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures. Prioritizes and allocates available resources; reviews and evaluates program and service delivery, makes recommendations for improvements and ensures maximum effective service provision. Works closely with work unit leaders and managers to provide advice, guidance and suggestions for service improvements in specific areas of assignment.
Assists in the direction of County architectural design, construction, maintenance, and repair. Assists in direction of real property acquisitions and real estate transactions for the County. Represents the department and the County in local, state and national forums; makes presentations before various advisory committees and legislative groups; oversees the best interests of the County in negotiations with others to provide services or take action supportive to the County.
Directs the selection of staff and provides for their training and professional development; interprets regulations and County policies and procedures to employees; ensures effective morale, productivity and discipline of department staff. Confers with members of other departments regarding departmental or County-wide operational matters; facilitates the resolution of problems and the development of coordinated policies. Directs the conduct of analytical studies; develops and reviews reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; directs the maintenance of accurate records and files.
Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures and other written materials. Monitors and interprets changes in laws and regulations related to departmental activities and functions; evaluates their impact upon County activities, and develops and implements policy and procedural changes as required.
EXAMPLES OF OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; drives a motor vehicle or arranges for appropriate transportation to various locations throughout the County in order to inspect properties and job sites, attend meetings and conduct County business.
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Must be capable of traveling to and from various work sites and other county offices for inspection purposes and to attend meetings.
