Assistant Director - Plant Operations & Maintenance

Position Summary:

Directs the day to day operations of the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department. Responsible for maintaining the condition of the on and off campus buildings to achieve the functions for which they were designed.

This includes maintenance and good repair of the building envelope, general aesthetic and structural requirements, life safety components, electrical power systems and emergency power systems. Also oversees and directs the Grounds and Fleet Maintenance operations for the main campus. Works with the Infrastructure and Plant Manager to ensure successful operation of the central boiler and chiller plant, plumbing, HVAC systems and utilities of the hospital.

Ensures that the maintenance department runs smoothly and efficiently, and the preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance is performed in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner. Responsible for the efficient and effective use of funds for the Maintenance and Plant Operations department and works with the Director, Facility Management and Planning Department and the VP, Facility Operations to develop and manage capital and operating budgets. Maintains records and assists in maintaining documentation required by all regulatory and accreditation agencies as well as good engineering practices.

Complies with the highest quality control standards and ensures staff is properly trained for the tasks assigned. Coordinates closely with hospital staff to conduct repairs and promote excellent customer relations.

Position Qualification:

Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
