Position: Assistant Director

Location: Dismas Charities Omaha

Shift Schedule: Tuesday 7 am

  • 4pm; Wed,Thurs, Fri 12pm

  • 9 pm and Saturday 12pm

  • 9 pm. Must be able to work other days/times as needed as function of management role.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two years academic studies in social or behavioral science program at an accredited college or university (paid work experience may be substituted for academic studies on a one year to one year basis); one year supervisory experience or a four year degree is preferred.

Must have personal computer (PC) work experience using Windows operating systems. Work experience should include Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on Word and Excel applications. Should understand basic PC concepts (files, file paths, copying and pasting, deleting, and moving files) as well as operation of common office machinery. The candidate must also have good typing, spelling, grammar, organizational, and phone skills.

Supervised by: Director

General Function: The Assistant Director is responsible to the Director in the development, administration, supervision, management and evaluation of the facility, staff and programs.

Also responsible for developing, coordinating and enhancing the facility's employment assistance/placement program by ongoing and documented efforts to assist each program resident in securing and maintaining gainful employment. Also responsible for timely subsistence collection.

Areas of Responsibility:

Responsible for complying with all agency policies and applicable procedures.

Responsible for the continual development and implementation of an effective social service delivery system. Responsible for providing counseling/case management services to residents, if needed.

Responsible for timely submission of all necessary evaluations, records, reports, correspondence and statistical information.

Responsible for managing the proper maintenance of all Resident Case files, including conducting case file audits.

Responsible for assisting the Director in providing oversight of the FreshStart Case Management System.

Responsible for assisting the Director in recruiting, interviewing and recommending applicants to be hired for staff positions, as well as applicants for the agency's volunteer and internship programs.

Responsible for assisting the Director in orienting, training and supervising the counselors, resident monitors, volunteers and interns.

Responsible for providing Staff Duty coverage as scheduled. Complete monthly staff schedule. Provide Resident Monitor coverage as needed.

Responsible for maintaining communication with the Director in regard to any and all relevant developments and information affecting residents and facility operations.

Responsible for assisting the Director in the security and safety of the physical plant and the maintenance of supplies and equipment. Performs regular premises inspection. Orders all facility supplies and maintains inventory control.

Responsible for attending and participating in all meetings as required.

Responsible for initiating and maintaining cooperative and effective liaison activities, especially those related to employment, with supervising authorities, other agencies, community groups and professional associations.

Performs premises inspection.

In the event of a work stoppage, the Assistant Director will work whatever hours necessary to man the center.

Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
