Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Career Services, this individual will strategically plan, implement, staff, and execute young alumni and student events and programming that help foster a lasting experience for St. John's graduates and a strong connection with their alma mater.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate and manage programming specifically designed for students to foster an understanding of Alumni Relations and the life-long relationships student can develop with their alma mater.

  • Work with Student Government, Inc. (SGI) and other student clubs to build awareness of the Office of Alumni Relations.

  • Work with the junior and senior classes to build a culture of philanthropy and raise money for a Senior Class gift.

  • Identify ways to celebrate student milestones and increase our presence at year-end activities and graduation.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Office of Career Services to coordinate events and resources for young alumni and students.

  • Manage and steward the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) committee, helping them plan events and fundraising opportunities.

  • Manage and steward existing alumni affinity groups including the Executive in Residence Program, GLOBE, President's Society, and Study Abroad and assist them with event planning and fundraising.

  • Identify student clubs and activities that could form an alumni affinity group.

  • Co-lead the Johnnies of the 21st Century program.

  • Help create marketing pieces and social media posts that appeal to students and young alumni.

  • Supervise Student Associates and Graduate Assistants assigned to Alumni Relations.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for periods of time; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 - 50 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including some nights and weekends. Ability to work longer hours when required.

Travel

Travel is primarily local, but there may be opportunities for regional travel when appropriate.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years related advancement experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Duties

  • Liaise with various campus partners.

  • Represent Alumni Relations at special events.

  • Assist with full team events like Homecoming and Reunion.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $62,400. St. John's University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John's University's physical locations at any time.
