Job Description

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) provides university-level support to students and faculty to ensure the highest level of access to and quality of the undergraduate research experience. The Assistant Director will serve as a "face" of the OUR, educating students and the broader university community about undergraduate research practices and benefits, services offered by OUR, and how to maximize the undergraduate research experience through one on one advising, informational presentations, campus events, and electronic newsletters.

The Assistant Director will manage several undergraduate research programs, including program marketing, application process, participant selection, student advising, and any related event planning. The Assistant Director will also plan and coordinate OUR summer programming for undergraduate research programs and support the Undergraduate Research Excellence Program. The Assistant Director will train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students who serve in OUR and will travel with students as a chaperone to 1-3 research conferences annually. This position requires occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree, plus relevant experience.

● Experience working with students to promote their professional development.

● Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.

● Excellent communication skills including the ability to give effective presentations.

● Administrative experience organizing and managing workflows, such as application processes.

● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

● Proficiency with Microsoft suites of tools.

● Experience handling and maintaining the security and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

● Master's degree.

● Experience conducting research, particularly as an undergraduate.

● Supervisory experience.

● Experience developing and facilitating trainings/workshops.

● Experience managing academic programs.

● Experience planning events.

● Experience mentoring or advising undergraduate students.

Up to $52,000, commensurate with experience
