What We Are Looking For

The Assistant Director of Student Support (ADSS), through coordination with the Department Chair or designee, leads the Student Support team in guiding students from their initial enrollment through graduation and into their professional lives. This pivotal management role encompasses supporting both student affairs and clinical education aspects of the student experience by working in close collaboration with department leadership, faculty members, and staff. The ADSS supervises a team of Program Managers and manages departmental systems to support student onboarding, progression, retention, graduation, and alumni engagement. The ADSS provides oversight for the management of student records, ensures compliance with accreditation and university standards, oversees the clinical placement process, and enriches students' co-curricular experiences by organizing events such as orientation, graduation, and special events. Furthermore, the role involves operation planning and resource allocation to streamline communication with students and constituents, enhancing the flow of information and support. This managerial position is vital for maintaining high standards in our educational programs and ensuring that students receive comprehensive support at every stage of their academic and professional journey.

A Bachelor's Degree and two years of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree and four years of relevant work experience is preferred. A combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of the required degree and/or years of experience.

Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United Stated.

What You Will Do:

  • Supervise the Student Support Program Manager Team, providing guidance and support to students from matriculation through clinical placement to ensure student success and retention.

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of events supporting students throughout the degree program. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating orientation experiences, graduation events, alumni gatherings, etc.

  • Coordinates with appropriate student service representatives (Registrar, Financial Aid, Career Center, etc.) in collaboration with the Student Support team to identify and resolve student issues and/or provide timely support.

  • Manage the matching process for students with clinical sites, ensuring timely placement and meeting graduation requirements.

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with placement sites alongside Student Support Team, coordinating the affiliation agreement process and necessary paperwork for program and accreditation standards.

  • Assist in budget development for Student Affairs and Clinical Education student needs.

  • Develop and maintain a communication plan for admitted students, current students, clinical partners, and alumni to ensure timely engagement and dissemination of pertinent information.

  • Oversee the licensure process and provide guidance to the Student Support Team on individual state licensure requirements.

  • Contribute information including student and clinical placement data to strategic planning, program assessment, and data reviews for university and program accreditation requirements.

  • Attend departmental meetings and provide onsite support during critical department and program events, including orientation and graduation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the OT/PT Director of Administrative Affairs.

  • Ability to comply with University policies

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission

Additional requirements:

  • Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Advanced knowledge in planning, conflict resolution, and coordination.

  • Demonstrates confidence in interpersonal and multi-channel communication and teamwork, including the ability to work independently and as a team member.

  • Travel is an expectation and requirement of this position.

  • Occasional weekend work is required.
