Summary

The Assistant Director of Student Involvement is a 12 month, live-in/on position reporting to the Assistant Dean/Director of Student Involvement.

This position works collaboratively with the entire Student Involvement staff to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive co-curricular program that aligns with the College mission and reflects the best practices amongst institutions of higher education.

This position also works closely with students and student organizations as an advisor and event planner. As such, this individual must demonstrate a commitment to holistic student development, have strong interpersonal skills, approach their work with an awareness of diversity and inclusion and be able to foster strong relationships with campus partners.

Finally, the Assistant Director of Student Involvement works collaboratively with the entire staff to provide meaningful experiences outside of the classroom. In alignment with the Division of Student Affairs mission, this position will strive to provide services and programs that prepare students to become engaged citizens who thrive, act with integrity and purpose, lead by example, and promote justice in solidarity.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Advise and train student groups and support the planning and execution of their associated programs

  • As an event planner for student organizations this position offers training, guidance, connects students to campus resources and supports students as they plan and implement a wide range of programs.

  • In collaboration with the other Assistant Director, designs, implements, and evaluates a vibrant calendar of late-night weekend programming for a diverse and multicultural student body.

  • Responsible for coordinating Late Night Weekend Programming planning and implementation.

  • Maintain departmental budgets in accordance with procedures and uphold accountability for operating within approved budget limits.

  • Act as a representative on divisional and campus-wide committees and task forces.

  • Recruit, train and manage student staff in the implementation of late night weekend events.

  • Assist with departmental projects; supervise tasks of administrative staff and/or student staff.

  • Represent the College with the highest degree of professionalism when interacting with both internal and external audiences.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

  • Demonstrate and practice the division of student affairs values of connection, excellence, holistic development, reflection, and student-centered focus.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in higher education/student affairs or equivalent is preferred.

  • Demonstrate intercultural, diversity and inclusion competencies and a commitment to working with diverse populations.

  • A desire to work in a fast-paced; diverse and vibrant global institution is essential.

  • An understanding of and appreciation for student development in a Jesuit Catholic context and a passion for working with students.

  • Must be able to work collaboratively and be able to make sound decisions independently.

  • Technical Skills - Display proficiency using standard office equipment such as a computer, fax, photocopier, scanner, etc. Proficient in all Microsoft suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Proficient in managing a virtual setting (ie. ZOOM, Google Meet, Youtube )

This is a live on-campus position which requires night and weekend work while students are on campus.

Assists patrons (students, staff, and faculty, as well as the general public) with their library needs. Assists with daily library operations and provides public services for the library, including basic research help and using research databases. Provides service at the circulation desk; assists in the processing of Interlibrary Loan and Document & Delivery Services requests; maintains stacks and reserve materials; communicates regularly with colleagues in the Holy Cross Libraries; assists with liaison services to faculty, staff, and students in the Sciences; and engages with other projects and duties assigned by the Science Librarian and/or other library administrators.
