Job Description:

The State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time, TERM (tenure-track) appointed Assistant Director of Student Accounts (Staff Associate, SL4, UUP Professional) beginning late April 2024. Position salary range is $65,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, team-orientated individual wishing to join our professional staff in a fast-paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Student Accounts, the successful candidate will:

  • Bill, collect, disburse, and reconcile third party, Fredonia, and government scholarships, grants and sponsorships

  • Responsible for the drawdown of State University Student Aid (SUSA) funds, ensuring compliance regarding the disbursement of all federal aid sources, in addition to reconciling the aid disbursement and undistributed funds

  • Voucher and disburse SUNY Tuition Credit funds

  • Assist students with residency questions and review applications.

  • Perform withdrawal calculations, including Title IV withdrawals

  • Complete the Perkins note audit and apply holds to students' accounts

  • Work with students

  • Supervise members of the Student Accounts staff, including the cashier area, and provide them with annual performance programs and evaluations

  • Responsible for testing and reporting problems for software patches and module upgrades

  • Requires routine contact with campus and SUNY System Administration personnel and serving on University committees

  • Ability to present and work limited nights and weekends to service the University with admissions events

  • Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession

  • Serve as a member of the Excelsior working group, troubleshoot and reconcile Excelsior disbursements, as well as serve as a liaison with HESC for Excelsior issues

  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and analytical skills

  • Possess a positive attitude, the ability to independently set priorities, and ability to meet deadlines and adaptability to continual change;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively, and in a collegial and professional manner, with students, faculty, and staff;

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office spreadsheet, word processing and database applications;

  • The ability to multi-task, meet goals and deadlines;

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of people in support of campus and department mission;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in higher education and familiarity with Banner, TouchNet and Argos;

  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to create popsels;

  • Background in accounting/finance.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, term appointed, professional, UUP represented position beginning April 2024. The salary range is $65,000-$75,000.
