Falmouth Public Schools is looking for a dynamic and innovative person to work collaboratively with FPS staff, families, students, and the broader community as the Assistant Director of Special Education. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Director of Special Education, Superintendent, Director of Learning, and Building Principals, as well as district and building-level special education staff, to ensure that all students in our district have equitable access to the support and services they require to attain academic success, as per the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ( IDEA).

Responsibilities:
Attend and chair all Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings involving state agency client students and other IEPs as appropriate.
Supervise and evaluate special education teachers, speech therapists, educational technicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who provide services to all special education students.
Participate and liaison with Student Centered Team (SCT) and special education team leaders at FES, FMS, and FHS.
Timely completion of the state agency client grant, state forms, reports, monthly updates, and EF-S-04A and EF-S-04B forms.
Organize and supervise all extended school year (ESY) services for eligible students.
Assist the Director of Special Education services with federal and state grants and reports.
Communicate and collaborate with building principals, teachers and specialists regarding special education students' needs.
Investigate alternative programming solutions for out-of-district placement special education students and complete EF-S-01.
Liaison (homeless liaison, liaison to youth correctional facilities, psychiatric hospitals, etc.)
Assist with coordination and scheduling of department professional development.
Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Special Education pertinent to this position.
Qualifications:
Maine Department of Education certification or eligibility as an Assistant Administrator of Special Education or Administrator of Special Education (#035 or #030 endorsement).
Master's Degree in Special Education.
A minimum of five years of teaching experience in Special Education.
Knowledge of special education law and all pertinent legal requirements at both the State and Federal levels.
