Employment Requirements
Indiana teaching license in Special Education
Indiana Administrator's license
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Special Education Teacher
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge of assistive technology desired
Knowledge of behavioral interventions desired
Essential Job Duties
Attend case conferences when requested by building level administrators and or special education teachers in order to provide additional support and/or potential solutions. Take case conference notes as necessary and clarify Article 7 for all concerned at a case conference.
May assist Special Education Director in evaluating special education staff.
Assist Special Education Director in evaluating and supervising all special education programs to ensure that objectives for student education are met
Assist Special Education Teachers when writing IEP's to assure that goals and behavior plans are complete and measurable and can be accessed for and with the student to prepare for success academically and behaviorally.
Assist building level administrators with information that will be helpful in the evaluation process for teachers. Help Special Education Teachers to understand curriculum, scheduling and data collection to ascertain and monitor student progress.
May be responsible for manifest determination conferences as determined by Special Education Director. Assistant Director will be responsible for writing a letter to the superintendent in forming of a case conference decision regarding whether a behavior was a manifest of a student's disability for those MD conferences they attend. Assist in looking at alternative educational placements for students when necessary due to behavioral, medical or other factors.
Responsible for pulling students from Indiana IEP when students move in to HCCSC.
Collaborate with HCCSC staff and administrators on programming to help students to progress on each of their educational goals and services by assessing and comparing data to drive instruction.
