THIS POSITION IS ON SITE IN CHANDLER, AZ

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of School Counseling to oversee our school counseling team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and management skills, a deep understanding of the unique challenges of virtual learning, and a commitment to providing high-quality school counseling services to our students. The Assistant Director of School Counseling, reporting to the Director of Graduation and Student Success, will assist in the supervision and management of the school counseling staff.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive school counseling program that meets the needs of our student population, K-12 grade.

  • Maintain a caseload of up to 50 students.

  • Lead, mentor, train and evaluate a team of School Counselors, providing guidance and support to ensure that high-quality school counseling services are provided to students.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining partnerships with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a collaborative and supportive environment that fosters student success.

  • Provide direct school counseling services to students as needed, including crisis intervention and individual school counseling sessions.

  • Develop and implement school counseling curriculum and resources for students, parents, and teachers to promote student well-being and academic success.

  • Stay current with the latest school counseling and educational research, trends, and best practices, and apply them to enhance the virtual school counseling program.

  • Collaborate with other departments within the school to ensure that school counseling services are integrated into the overall educational experience.

  • Track and report on school counseling department performance metrics, providing regular updates to leadership.

  • Serve as a leader in the MTSS process to establish appropriate interventions for the school counseling team.

  • Assist in monitoring graduation efforts from school counselors, tracking efforts regularly to identify potential graduates early and implement plans to meet graduation requirements.

  • Perform administrative duties as directed by the Director of Graduation & Student Success.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience using technology as an instructional tool and technology applications.

  • Embrace a culturally diverse environment.

  • Be knowledgeable and proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Adapt to change while conveying professionalism.

Job Specific Skills/Abilities, Education/Training:

  • Master's degree in school counseling or a related field.

  • A current Arizona Guidance Counselor certificate

  • Minimum of five years of experience in school counseling or related field, with at least two years of experience in a leadership role.

  • Experience working in a virtual K-12 school setting.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of school counseling best practices, including crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, and social-emotional learning.

  • Understanding of legal and ethical issues related to school counseling.

  • PowerSchool and/or student information system knowledge a plus.

  • Must be able to work onsite in Chandler, AZ five days a week
