Job Description

The Assistant Director of Rooms will assist in leading the Rooms Division; Housekeeping, Front Office, Guests Services, Royal Service and Concierge. The position will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Front Office and Royal Service teams. As the Assistant Director of Rooms, you will provide leadership and strategic planning to the Rooms division in support of our service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as ambassador and spokesperson to all customers; promotes tailored services to VIPs and loyalty program members; responding timely and consistent to customer & third party concerns; fielding issues with all operational departments

  • Demonstrates a commitment to Service Excellence; assists with the strategic implementation of customer satisfaction improvement activities measured through VOG (TrustYou) and in keeping with our luxury standards of service from curb to pillow

  • Spearheads the Problem Resolution Recovery process; communicating with guests ensuring that issues are being resolved during the stay; establishes a monthly reporting system that allows to solve potential issues proactively

  • Working with the Director of Rooms, ensures that the monthly financial outlooks and results for the Rooms division are accurate; maintains divisional efficiency/productivity and essential luxury guest services; maximization of revenues and effective cost control

  • Assists with developing the annual Rooms budget from a revenue, cost, productivity, and efficiency perspective, coordinates rooms division capital planning with managers

  • Assists with overseeing employee and manager planning, recruitment, selection and development through goal development and coaching; manages a related leadership succession plan

  • Coaches and mentors colleagues; creates an environment that allows colleagues to exceed guest expectations and provide a path for career development with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts

  • Flexible schedule including night and weekend required

  • Performs any and all other tasks which are assigned by the Director of Room

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years Rooms Management experience

  • University/College degree in a related discipline an asset

  • Luxury hotel experience is required

  • Proven track record of effective development of others

  • Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Windows XP and MS Office required

  • Ability to work a variety of hours/days/holidays/weekends as business needs require

  • Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height

  • Must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 75 lbs

  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally

  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
