TITLE: Assistant Director of Recruitment

LOCATION: Central Office

JOB GOAL:

The Assistant Director of Recruitment will collaborate with organizational leaders to support employment of qualified staff through the implementation of the strategic plans to attract, hire, and retain Kansas City, Kansas Public School employees. This role will integrate all recruiting strategies and initiatives with the district goals to support diversity, equity and inclusion priorities within the school district.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyzes hiring, retention and termination trend data to identify future hiring needs to develop and implement a recruitment strategy for certified and classified employee positions with a strong focus on the recruitment of a diverse staff and positions designated as high needs areas.

  • Establishes and maintains strong, positive working relationships with school administrators/supervisors to support hiring candidates.

  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate recruitment team and/or assigned personnel.

  • Develops, implements, and manages recruitment data collection systems.

  • Creates and implements both short and long-range planning and implementation for the improvement of the recruitment strategic plan and processes.

  • Provides training and support to the recruitment team and/or recommends external professional development to attract diverse employees to the school district.

  • Manages the human resources information systems and all associated external partnerships that support the recruitment processes.

  • Establishes new and existing relationships with local, state, and regional organizations, higher education institutions, local business and nonprofit organizations that supports increased opportunities to attract, hire and retain diverse employees within the school district.

  • Participates in the development of the annual Human Resource budget while managing and monitoring the recruitment budget to ensure daily alignment to the overall department goals.

  • Engages with stakeholders to identify opportunities for creative recruitment of typically hard-to-fill positions.

  • In partnership with the Human Resources Relations Coordinator and the Marketing/Communications department, develop and assist in the design of a multitude of mediums to create a high impact "employment brand" which includes electronic and social media as a recruitment tool to promote KCKPS as an employer of choice.

  • Plans, organizes, and attends external and internal recruitment trips and activities.

  • Establishes initial contact with candidates at recruitment events, conducts pre-screening interviews, and constantly develops a pool of candidates that creates a pipeline for all positions within the school district.

  • Regularly communicates with student interns and employees in KCKPS partnership programs to ensure they are moving toward acquiring positions that align with their degrees.

  • Partners with new employee onboarding staff to ensure that the transition to KCKPS is efficient and positive.

  • Develops, implements and manages a plan to create relationships with new hires throughout their first year, assist in monitoring satisfaction, and connect employees to available support as needed to increase retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, personnel administration or other related fields.

  • Experience in Human Resources in a public educational setting preferred.

COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION:

Maintain effective working relationships with students, district staff, parents, and community.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 Days

SUPERVISES: Recruiters and staff as assigned

SALARY: Based on KCKPS Salary Schedule for Administrators

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

REPORT TO: Human Resource Director

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the KCKPS Board of Education policy
