The Assistant Director of Recruitment directs and oversees all recruitment operational functions and provides leadership to enrollment advisors focused on recruiting prospective students from all demographic targets and guiding them through matriculation. This individual monitors staff activities to ensure consistent delivery of outstanding student services in person and virtual environments. The position leads the efforts to recruit students within the Pathways program and Early College and in business and community partnerships. The Assistant Director of Recruitment collaborates to create new and strategic programs and events to attract students to the college, optimizes current initiatives, and monitors for effectiveness. This individual assists the Dean of Educational Services to effectively promote Early College opportunities within Ocean County and elsewhere to maximize student credit enrollment. This position assists the Executive Director of Enrollment Services in creating and implementing the recruitment plan and campaigns and collaborates with other designated college personnel engaged in efforts to improve student recruitment rates and support the College's enrollment goals.

Staff Duration: Full Time 12 months

  • Provides leadership to the Recruitment team within the Enrollment Services office operations and staff activities; oversees and evaluates four staff members; directs outreach activities including but not limited to planning and implementing lead generation, community events, and recruiting campaign activities; establishes benchmarks and ensures established goals are accomplished by monitoring student recruitment efforts focused on all demographic targets.

  • Creates and develops promotional materials to advance enrollment campaigns, including written and electronic publications, presentations, and reports; assesses and evaluates the success of campaigns and makes recommendations to improve.

  • Works to create and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with local high schools, businesses, and community organizations to encourage collaboration and partnerships with the College.

  • Oversees and coordinates the College Pathways program with high school staff and the recruitment and timely processing of early college students; plans outreach events for students and parents, including orientations, back-to-school nights, and information sessions.

  • Works in partnership with the Director of the Manahawkin Campus to support enrollment at the campus, including planning and supporting outreach events and activities.

  • Collaborates with high school counselors and other K-12 representatives, school relations, and the Dean of Educational Services to promote the maximum enrollment of Early College students in terms of headcount and credits taken.

  • Consciously creates a workplace culture that is consistent with Ocean County College's mission, vision, guiding principles, and values; manages by example and focuses on establishing and is willing to be held accountable for individual performance as well as progress with personal development and established goals.

  • Collaborates with leaders within the division and other designated management to develop recruitment goals and assists in the creation of marketing strategies and initiatives; develops a Recruitment strategic plan to be used in collaboration with the Enrollment Management Communications Calendar designed to target various cohorts; develops, implements, promotes and assesses service programs that improve enrollment, retention and success rates among all Ocean County College students.

  • Generates and prepares requested reports to analyze student enrollment data against enrollment goals; makes adjustments to ensure continuous focus on meeting defined goals.

  • Stays current with innovative best practices in higher education recruiting and enrollment management; also remains current on student development theories and issues, particularly at the community college level, and brings recommendations back for adoption as appropriate.

  • Positively represents the college at campus meetings, local and regional affinity groups, and county-wide events.

  • Related duties, initiatives, and projects as assigned.

1.Bachelor's Degree in Education Leadership or other related discipline.

2.Minimum of three years of experience in recruitment and/or sales experience in higher education which required exceptional customer service, interpersonal, written and oral skills.

3. Two years of supervisory or team leadership experience related to recruitment, enrollment or advising that included oversight of a student program or service.  

4.Knowledge and experience in CRM system management and strategic use of the system and features to optimize efficiency and effectiveness of the department in service to students.

5.Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and a student database platform requiring advanced computer, technical and analytical skills; ability to review processes, analyze and use data to recommend policy and process improvements.1. Master's Degree in Education Leadership or other related discipline.

2.Advanced knowledge of Ellucian's CRM systems, Colleague and related systems for admissions and matriculation processes, as well as registration, advising, and financial aid processes.

3.Knowledge and experience in creating highly engaging PowerPoint, Canva or other presentations for general public and targeted groups.
