Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director of Pharmacy, the incumbent in this position will be responsible for the overall management of all pharmacy operations in his/her area, supervision of the daily activities of the staff assigned to pharmacy operations and for all operational activities and processes designed to provide evidence-based and cost effective medication dispensing, monitoring, distribution, customer service, and appropriate patient care. Responsible for the tactical and strategic planning for his/her section and areas of responsibility in coordination with the Pharmacy Administrative Director.
Provides leadership and oversight for training, education, and competency of pharmacy staff. Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates pharmacy staff. Ensures compliance with all Federal and State regulations, and departmental policies.
Develops and implements sustainable policies and procedures, provides oversight of payroll and scheduling, and provides staffing support as necessary. Provides leadership and oversight for medication safety and security and for policy development and implementation in his/her area.
1.PharmD required. 2. MBA, MHA and/or MPH, preferred
1.Seven years of pharmacy experience, required. 2. Three years of managerial/supervisory experience in a health system pharmacy or a large pharmacy operation, preferred. 3. Applicable PGY2 Residency will count towards managerial experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to lead a team, with a strong emphasis on people management and coaching employees. 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with other members of the healthcare team and with pharmacy leadership. 3. Strong organizational skills. 4. Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques. 5. Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees. 6. If necessary, will be required to assume responsibility for staff management and daily operations. 7. Knowledge of applicable human resources policies and procedures. 8. Strong project management skills. 9. Ability to progress pharmacy retail and specialty operations in alignment with both the organizational and departmental strategic plan. 10. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy. 11. Thorough knowledge of the calculation of doses and the preparation and use of. 12. Thorough knowledge of pharmacy, drug, narcotic, and related state and federal laws. 13. Thorough knowledge of inventory control and record keeping related to the work. 14. Ability to recognize physical, chemical, and therapeutic incompatibilities and drug interactions. 15. Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. 16. Strong knowledge of 340B regulations and standards of practice.
Computers and Technology
1.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, required. 2. Proficiency with Epic electronic health record software, preferred.
Certificates, Licenses and Registration
1.Possession of a valid and active Pharmacist License with ability to reciprocate to Colorado, required; active license in Colorado, preferred. 2. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment. Supervisory Responsibilities This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, hiring, terminating, performance management, coaching, supervision, fostering teamwork, training and development of one or more employees.
