Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Operations and Community Programs plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the operations of Falcon Center and Campus Recreation, as well as community and youth programming. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of member services, fitness, and community programs while driving revenue growth through community activities. Additionally, the Assistant Director is tasked with overseeing the hiring and payroll of interns and student workers, creating and implementing community programs, and ensuring the utilization of necessary software programs. The role also involves compiling statistical data, collaborating with campus departments, serving as a point of contact for social media platforms, and coordinating marketing efforts. The Assistant Director will be involved in overseeing youth summer camps and ensuring the safety of staff through First Aid/CPR training. Budgeting and administrative support are integral components of this position, and flexibility in scheduling, including an on-call weekend rotation, is required to ensure the successful operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Falcon Center and Campus Recreation operations, as well as Community programming.

  • Supervision of member services, fitness programming, and community program staff.

  • Driving revenue growth from community programs and activities.

  • Hiring and payroll management of interns and student workers in applicable areas.

  • Creation and implementation of community programs, including personal training, group fitness classes, aquatic swim lessons, tennis lessons, and youth parties.

  • Creating schedules and managing payroll for student staff.

  • Compiling and maintaining statistical data for program and class reporting.

  • Serving as a point of contact for social media platforms, collaborating with the University Relations and Marketing department, and supervising recreation marketing plans, including overseeing the FusionGo application.

  • Overseeing operations involving youth summer camps, including Falcon Day Camp.

  • Acting as a training coordinator for American Red Cross First Aid/CPR training for student staff and management.

  • Creating budgets for program-related expenditures and equipment, and submitting them for approval.

  • Overseeing administrative support for the Falcon Center, including deposit handling and clerical work.

  • Maintaining a flexible schedule and participating in an on-call rotation, including nights and weekends, and being responsible for facility operations when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Recreation, Higher Education, Business Administration, etc.)

Master's Degree Preferred*

Required Licenses and/or Certifications

Must have valid CPR/First Aid/AED can be obtained after hire

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in recreation and/or facility management.

  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Experience with program promotion.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a similar role.

  • Demonstrated success in revenue generation.

  • Community engagement experience.

  • Advanced certifications (Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

Personal Training Certification, etc )

  • Proficiency in software programs.

  • Budgeting and financial management .
