Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing/Quality Coordinator (ADON/QC) assists in the planning, organization, staffing, and direction of the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of quality evidenced based patient care is being delivered in accordance with all laws, regulations and accreditation standards. This position reports to the Director of Nursing (DON) and is responsible for contributing to clinic and departmental quality initiatives. This involves performing the assessment and analysis of operations along with timely recommended improvements to ensure accreditation and regulation standards. Works in collaboration with other PUSH departments to promote safe and effective patient-centered care. Responsible for the compliance of AAAHC accreditation standards. Acts as a resource to all PUSH department managers on quality improvement services related to effectively achieving accreditation and organizational compliance for quality improvement activities.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience with skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties as assigned to this position

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association

Preferred:

  • Three (3) years of nursing supervisor and quality improvement experience

Skills:

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within the area of nursing expertise.

  • Ability to provide operational quality improvement guidance to all PUSH staff

  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles

  • Analytical reasoning to interpret and take action on quality initiative data.

  • Leadership skills within the area of nursing

  • Experience in project management, and departmental leadership

  • Experience with IT communications (Purdue computing environment systems experience, Electronic Health Records, and auditing)

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning quality improvement standards

  • Analytical reasoning to interpret and act on quality initiative data

  • Participate in committee work (Health Center and University-wide) as appropriate

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups

  • Excellent organizational skills and leadership abilities

  • Ability to perform complex tasks independently with minimal supervision
