The Assistant Director of Nursing reports directly to the Director of Nursing and supports the Director in all duties pertaining to the Nursing Program. The position is administrative in nature. The position requires active participation in the management of all areas of the Nursing Program as dictated by the Board of Nursing in the state of employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing will assist the Director with the following general management/administrative duties for the nursing program: a. Monitor department compliance with the State Board of Nursing, Concorde policy, and all regulatory agency procedures.

  • Participate in ongoing review and evaluation of the curriculum. Assist with revision as necessary.

  • Insure that instruction meets or exceeds the standards and guidelines established by accrediting bodies and legislation. Assist instructors in preparing, reviewing, and revising the course syllabus, lesson plans, testing materials, course calendars, student evaluations, and learning objectives as needed.

  • Assist in establishing department policy that meets the needs and requirements of Concorde as well as the profession.

  • Advise students as needed regarding academic, attendance, professional behavior issues, and assist graduates as needed in the application for licensure process.

  • Assist with student admission interviews, orientation, and other department meetings as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

  • Assist in planning and participate in the Advisory Committee meetings.

  • Participate in the accreditation process by all regulatory bodies.

  • Participate in management of the student retention

  • Assist in planning and conducting faculty meetings, projects, and studies being conducted by the Nursing Department and Concorde.

  • Participate in Systematic Program Evaluation.

  • Substitute teaches PRN.

  • Assist in the development of clinical site experiences, supervision and evaluation.

  • Assume responsibility for skills lab coordination.

  • Maintain student records in compliance with Concorde policies.

  • Participate in program, campus, and corporate activities.

  • Assure ongoing advisement of students regarding academic progress in the department from enrollment to graduation.

  • Participate on committees providing input on policies regarding recruitment, admissions, retention, promotion, and graduation of students.

  • Maintain professional competence by activities which may include nursing practice, community volunteer, continuing education, writing, or participation in professional associations.

  • Participate in the development of departmental and institutional policies.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

  • Current License to practice professional nursing in the state of California.

  • MSN Required

  • Minimum 5 years RN experience in clinical practice.

  • Minimum one year management experience required.

  • Must meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications in order to hold position.

  • Teaching experience preferred.

Maximum Total Compensation Valued at up to $222,274 Plus future salary increase of 3% effective July 18, 2020! The Department of Aging and Adult Services is seeking an Assistant Director that will serve as a change agent for innovation while building and maintaining all operations of the department as it continues to grow its comprehensive services. Responsibilities include ensuring collaboration with community stakeholders to expand complex services; compliance with federal and state regulations; providing leadership and oversight for key programs servicing the elderly/aging and disabled adult population; establishing departmental policies, goals, and objectives; personnel management; and budget preparation and monitoring. This position is in the Unclassified Service and serves at the discretion of the Director of the Department of Aging and Adult Services. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Travel: Statewide and nationwide travel is required. Travel throughout the County is also required, and employees may be required to make provisions for local transportation (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates). A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained for the individual providing the transportation. Minimum Requirements: Education: A Master's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, Clinical Psychology or Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Family or Child Psychology, or in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, or other closely related field. Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. In addition, degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. * AND- Experience: Option 1: Three (3) years of highly responsible experience as an executive-level manager or administrator within a large human services or social services agency, which includes: interpreting/enforcing relevant laws, rules and regulations; responsibility for program planning and development; personnel administration and business operations; and budget/fiscal administration for multi-million dollar budgets and/or contracts. Qualifying experience must also include collaboration with community stakeholders, working with public officials, and full-scope responsibility for managing multiple subordinate managers (i.e., hiring, firing, mentoring/coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, assigning work, completing work performance evaluations, developing work schedules and approving time off). Option 2: Five (5) years of management experience within a large human services or social services agency, which includes professional-level administrative responsibility for interpreting/enforcing relevant laws, rules and regulations; responsibility for program planning and development; personnel administration and business operations; and budget/fiscal administration for multi-million dollar budgets and/or contracts. Qualifying experience must also include full-scope responsibility for managing multiple subordinate supervisors (i.e., hiring, firing, mentoring/coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, assigning work, completing work performance evaluations, developing work schedules and approving time off). Note: Staff Analyst II and Administrative Supervisor II experience is not considered qualifying. Desired Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate will have at least five (5) years of progressively responsible, executive-level management experience including program planning/development and delivery of services to elderly/aging and disabled adults within a large public sector agency or Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs). In addition, the ideal candidate will be a dynamic team builder and results-oriented, creative problem solver who thrives when taking the lead on multiple projects and enjoys collaborating on strategies and tactics, as well as achieving successful outcomes. Excellent financial and political acumen, and strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills are required to effectively manage key programs, and work with staff and other County departments, local cities, state, and federal agencies.
